Farms or cattle? what's better to build for profit?
Playing as egypt and i need advice, would it be better to build farms or cattle for profit?
I noticed that the Aegyptus province that i own has two settlements that can buff agricultural profits by a pretty decent 20-40% each, i am considering cattle and was wondering are cattle considered agriculture? they have it on the building description for it but i have seen other commerce buildings that increase live stock profits, so i'm not quite sure.

farms for sure. you get a little less money but more food and you will need the food when upgrading everything later
I'd say cattle. WAY More income and it costs less

Yeah, and maintaing at least 20 Food for poplulation gorwth is priority.
If you are still growing population - more building slots = power.
And if your empire is powerful enough to not to worry about Food - you would then probably not miss the extra coin from Livestock anyway.

farms only get 2 extra food but cattle get double the wealth, i think i might go with cattle because the aegyptus province is dedicated to profit from agriculture so i might just do that and use othe minor settlements in other provinces for farms. As for growth is not a problem really because i find researching water sluicing and tax labour as well as upgrading settlements to level 3 gives a pretty decent rate of growth. Anyways thanks for the advice guys, appreciated.

Not sure about Eygpt but Barbarian factions also get a religious building that when levelled up to max IV, gives 8 food and no squalor pen, you can use that in later mid-end game to boost food levels to.

Yeah they have a pretty good one called Shrine of Isis, maxed out it has plus 60% from agriculture, +20 from agriculture during bread and games edict, also +20% from slaves, pretty dam awesome.

Ah now...slaves...have only really played as Iceni and those peace loving Barbarians (!) never take any. Next campaign will be different faction so interested to know pro/cons of slaves? Like I say, Iceni never take them so I have no idea the effect they have :-s

Farms. Later in game you'll have so much money that you can not spent... but food is a good issue.. if you want to expand your buildings.

I am pretty sure live stock is not agriculture. I checked by building a cattle building and then checking the province income to see if it got the agriculture % bonus from the town it was in. You may want to double check to be sure.

Farms all the way.

Playing on legendary i think i'll need a good source of income earlier on, anyways food is not really that much of a problem, i usually keep it floating around 20-30 surplus most of the time which is all you really need to keep it at anyway, +50 or more food is overkill
