Must be the libation of wine i drank in honour of Fortuna that i am so far unaffected by any technical problems :)
Checked out the map, seemed ok, the seasons are a nice touch.
Checked out the tech tree, turns out that the new political system is just a renamed tech tree, the first tech being "Adopt Marc Anthony", once that is unlocked you can "supoort Crassus" and "support Pompey" but all this really does is let you build wine traders etc just like the Rome 2 tech tree except now you have to 2000 monies to research them.
You can use Marc Anthony as a general once he's adopted, I'm not sure if you can use Pompey or Crassus as I havent unlocked them yet, but I highly doubt it...This was Caesar's campaign after all.
After a few turns my city was attacked! By a full stack of Gauls, and all I had defending was a small garrison and a very small army. I set up in the streets, I set my legions in choke points, ready to brace the waves of gauls that would undoubtedly flood through my city! The enemy approached, and I waited. They set up their slingers and I waited. I put my legionaries in testudo to weather the hail of rocks and waited for the immense onslaught to begin. They ran out of stones to throw and I waited...And I waited...And I waited...And the AI just stood there, looking at me....60 minutes later I won the battle by sheer patience and the Ai army ran away bloody and battered, having not even tried to take my city...They just stood there, dumb and broken.
I think I'm done with CIG for now. I'll wait untill the Divide Et Impera guys bring out their update. I really thought after that first battle the AI would maybe have been a bit better, but maybe my expectations were just too high.
Edit: Seems like I am not the only one. I am really disappointed by CA's newest strategy of realeasing Rome 2 and DLC filled with bugs. I am a huge fan of the series but this wouldn't be acceptable anywhere else.
Gunna be getting into it later tonight..
I really haven't had a problem with A.I. for a few patches...campaign A.I. has been nothing short of phenominal for me. I've had treaty's(military/peace) with factions that helped out their alliences by fortifying in front of troops so the could pull more of their units to attack my village. Kept their peace treaty and guarded an opposing factions position. Been ambushed quite cleverly a few times....Battle A.I. is about average...path finding, sieging and responsiveness needs work but nothing game breaking.
I dont believe they are working.
Amen to that.
Not sure if it really is that personal. I mean apart from the general being named Caesar, nothing else really changes. He's still a level 1 general and his legion is called "Legio I". The same affect could be achieved by digging around in the files and renaming Lucius Libo to Julius Caesar in the main game.
