Don't get discouraged by people like this, learning a new language is all about making mistakes.
So in summary, the walls would be there for balanced game play; which trumphs accuracy. If you wish, perhaps someone can make a mod to have the walls removed. It might not be such a hard thing.
It is doubtful Sparta had substantial defensive walls during the Pelopnnesian War 431-404 BC, history and tradition suggests it didn't. I'd feel happier of that was backed up by solid Archaeology.
My guess is Sparta had some early "Walls" that were more for defining the limits of settlement and ownership but did not form an effective defence work around Sparta.
It's up to CA how they design stuff, but it might have made more people "happy" if Sparta had no Walls, and a buffed up Garrison.
Walls are pretty harmless in Rome II, it's Towers that kill stuff.
