Not showing all video memory?
So I recently upgraded and got an MSI r9 290x 4GB graphics card - Went into the graphics options of rome, and saw it was only registering 3072MB of video memory instead of the 4096MB it should be. I checked the Catalyst control center, the card was still registering as having 4096 MB of video memory, not sure where else to check to make sure.

My question is what's causing this and if anyone has a solution? or any other places I can go to check my card?

I can't be completely certain because it has been awhile since I've read-up on this issue, but it is possible that that is all the game can mechanically utilize. For example with RAM, 8GB is more than enough and nothing is gained with 16GB. With that GPU it is VRAM, of course, and actually 3GB, game wise, is quite a bit.

Change the 0 to:

1073741824 for 1gb cards.
1610612736 for 1.5gb cards.
2147483648 for 2gb cards.
3221225472 for 3gb cards.

Sorted. :)

Total War games haven't recognised my VRAM since Empire. lol

* Below is what I tried *

C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts

My AMD HD7970 3GB Card Shows 3051 MB in the Games Graphics Options Menu set at Zero in the preference scripts.
gfx_video_memory 0; # gfx_video_memory <int>, Override available video memory (bytes) #

I changed the Zero value to -4000 and Saved it. Now it shows 4095 MB in the Games Graphic Options Menu -
gfx_video_memory -4000; # gfx_video_memory <int>, Override available video memory (bytes) #

Count about 15 lines down to find the gfx_video_memory 0; line
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the Hell of it I changed the gfx_video_memory 0; to -9000 because I have Three AMD 7970 3GB Cards in a Tri-Fire setup. I checked the Box the AMD Catalyst Control Center to force Tri-Fire even if the progam application has No association profile. And the Rome 2 Games Graphics Options Menu still shows 4095 MB. So I will assume that is the Max.
