Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Vezi statistici:
Map previews not showing in user interface.
Hello folks,
My battle map previews are not showing, just get a spinning cursor. It has been like this since patch 2 or 3. I have scoured the internet looking for a solution to this problem but so far no luck finding anything. Is there anyone that might have a solution to this problem? It sure would be nice to be able to look at a preview of the map like it used to be.
Thanks...

Had the same issue. Try this.

In your preferences.script located at C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts

edit gfx_device_type (about line 20) to 0. This will force DirectX 9.

Restart the game and see if the map previews are back. Then change it back to dx11, maps should still be there.

Discoverd by accident after reading this post.

Ok, here's an idea. I just tested it out and it works on my copy of RTW2. Move preferences.script somewhere safe so the scripts folder is empty. Start RTW2 and it then writes a default preferences like when you first installed the game. See if that works.

Ok, here is what I did. Copied the preferences.scripts.txt file to a different location. Deleted the file, deleted the folder. Restarted Steam and RTW2. Opened a new custom battle and was disappointed to find the same thing, nothing but a spinning cursor in the maps preview panel. Went back in the directory and tried it a second time..same thing, spinning cursor. I really hoped this latest solution would work. Thanks for the effort zhx

Have you verified the integrity of your installation?

right click on game in steam library and select properties.
click on the 'LOCAL FILES' tab then click the button 'VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...'

Steam will re-download any missing/corrupted files.

Next, exit the game and steam completely!

from this page https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2025-RTIA-7954

Run the following installers:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\directx\DXSETUP.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-80-sp1.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-90.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-100-sp1.exe

then reboot.

If that doesn't work then my only solution left is to re-install the game

Right click on the game in the steam library and select 'Delete local content...'

then go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ and delete the folder 'Total War Rome II' if it's still there

then go to

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\ and delete the folder 'Rome2'

MAKING SURE THESE TWO FOLDERS ARE DELETED IS IMPORTANT
as it may screw up the re-installation if you leave any remnants from your old installation

That should clear everything, then re-download the whole game off steam, it's a 12.5GB download.
