How long is the Augustus campaign?
I assume its not infinite like the grand campaign because Octavian is aging and i assume he cant become 200 years or die a natural death. Just like Ceasar in Gaul and Hannibal it must have a certain number of turns? I remember Ceasar had 180 and Hannibal 220 turns

Pretty sure this is yet another in a long line of examples of where CA either doesn't think their way through the entire campaign of their own games or certainly appears to never play them through before releasing them.

In the case of the campaign you are referring to the main characters are immortal as far as I know and there's no turn limit.

Again, why CA ever thought giving the player an infinite number of turns in R2 was a good idea is beyond me, but then this is the same group of devs who thought 1ypt was a good idea.

Man do I miss the people who made R1, MTW2 and S2, because I'm pretty sure based on how R2 turned out these are not the same people (and point of fact we know for dead certain in the case of R1 and MTW2 they aren't).

Ok, that is weird. Never finished my CIG or HATG yet but those campaigns have a specific number or turns, right? The CIG campaign takes place between 58-51 BC so i assume the campaign is over when the date is 51 BC ?

As others have said, the Augustus Campaign has no time limit and the Historical Faction Leaders will continue to age and never die until their faction is dead.

As for why Rome II campaign has no time limit, I believe this was done due to player feedback from earlier games, because many players don't like having a time limit and prefer to play at their own pace, however fast or slow that may be.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

tpy mods make the end game pointless mostly becuase they are by an end date not a turn limit

Yet another reason I don't use tpy mods. :spacemonster:

I've played both and don't recall paying any attention to time, it could be I wrapped them up before a time limit, what's more likely though is they both have the same no time limit as the GC.

Very likely imo.

The biggest reason I haven't done more Shogun 2 campaigns is that I hate having a turn limit.

Keep in mind EE added 4 turns per year, so 400 turns is 100 years, and almost nobody will play 400 turns...

So the average player should be good.

Just to clarify, EE (Emperor Edition) doesn't add 4 turns per year to the Grand Campaign, only the seperate Imperator Augustus Campaign added in EE is 4 turns per year.

I know that's probably what you meant Fireclaw, I just wanted to avoid any confusion for new/returning players.
