Augustus Campaign Questions
So I just completed a 4 day epicly long Rome campaign and I think it's natural to move into the Civil War of the second Triumvirs.

I played last night for a little bit but have a few questions

1. I ambushed Lepadus himself when he invaded Gaul under forced march, I obviously threw everything at him and got the notification "The Enemy General has been killed!". But after the battle it showed him alive and of course he got a huge retreat move so I couldn't finish him off.
So can you kill Sextus, Lepadus, Antony or Augustus??? Or do they just stay alive till their last province is gone?

2. Do any of the four main roman leaders die of old age? Augustus starts at 21 or 22 I think and before I knew it he was already 26, even with 4 turns per year it felt quick. I just don't want any of them to die before I get a chance to fight them.

3. What were some strategies you guys used during your Augustus Campaigns?

1. Certain historical leaders in certain campaigns can't be killed until their faction is destroyed. When they "die" they become Statesmen and are injured for several turns (so you can't use them till they heal. But once they are healed then they act as normal, until they die again.) So the four playable faction leaders in Caeser in Gaul and at least the 4 Roman leaders in Augustus. I know for certain this doesn't happen in Grand Campaign, but think it might in Hannibal at the Gates, and no idea with Wrath of Sparta. If you look at Octavian you will see he has a trait that will say something like "Great Leader." Any character who is unkillable will have something similar, but may have different names (I think Octavian's is Son of Caesar.)

2. Nope. Think some people have even kept score of how old they get.

3. Playing an Octavian VH/VH campaign at the moment (using the A More Aggressive AI mod.) Best advice I can think of is to secure what you have before trying to capture a lot of other territory, try not to fight on multiple fronts at the same time and if possible use diplomacy to avoid fighting all the other Roman factions at once. Oh and try to get some military allies. Their lands and those of your client states will count towards your 100 settlements needed for a Military Victory.

Thanks man! I appreciate your answers. Well it's good and bad they can't die. Of course it sucks ambushing Lepidus' army and "killing him" then finding out he cant die. At the same time I will totally finish the campaign knowing I will get a chance to meet everyone on the field. I just didn't want to spend all my time maintaing what I had and by the time I fight Antony Im fighting his great great grandson or something haha. good luck on your campaign!

I wanted to put in my 2 cents but Welsh Dragon covered all the bases very well. Follow his advise and you won't go wrong.

Those character have a special ability, they cannot die (in fights, assasinations, and so on), they will be only wounded.
Wounded means that you have to choose another leader of that troop and then when the Hero is healed (after some rounds) you can put him back in his initial troop (army).

Your main-army should be commanded by such a Hero, so that army will get so much experience and tradition-ability as it can.
Put also a Striker inside this troop, with the ability to train troops, so he will give every round some exp-points.
