What happened to upgrading armour, shields, and weapons in EE version.
I have taken 13 provencies with 39 regions. I have just one region that I was able to select as a Colonia Armour and that was Koria. No other regions seemed able to build a Colonia Sheild or Colonia Weapons maker. Can't even find out if such places exist. What happed to being able to build an armour shop and weapons shop in one region of each provence. Am I supposed to move every army I create through Koria just to get it upgraded? "Please Master, enlighten little grasshoper if you would be so kind."

Removal of military equipment chains apart from siege engines. Weapon and armour upgrades now come from iron regions. New horse resource chain added to buff cavalry units which is also exclusive to some regions.

The equipment chains now exist exclusively as town centers in regions that produce iron. So yes, you either have to move all of your soldiers through Koria or you need to capture more regions with iron.

This is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid... because, you know, people didn't pick up iron, put it on a ship, and send it to Rome or anything...

Overhaul Building Changes

The Aim

The aims for these changes are simple:

Provide more building options for all cultures and more interesting building combinations.
Make resource regions more important.
Improve the balance of the late game economy.
Balance food/squalor so buildings can be upgraded further.

Yep, they just plucked it out of the ground, no mining, no nothing.

ya i hate this new upgrade system it should be if you have the resourcse you should be able to transport the iron to your military province for use not have to find a new spot with armor

What faction are you playing? I can tell you the cities that produces iron. In western europe there is one in gaul, Koria like you said, Iberia and one in Egypt.
Peahatche Sep 22, 2014 @ 7:44am
It's not that bad - after you take the three cities in the mountans north of italy you can turn it into a factory for building armies. Rome province is better used to make money or food anyway.

Every Roman settlement, as part of their own trade network must have been receiving iron somehow or other because most of them had blacksmiths who made horse shoes, wheels, and repaired things for the locals. As far as I can tell we don't really get a feel for what gets traded around internally within the Roman Empire except that it must happen. Otherwise they all would be producing for their own use everything. We know that wasn't true. So, it came from somewhere, somehow. Local blacksmiths, depending on therir skill level should have been able to make armour and weapons.

@ mail71k and Rock Harderbeard

As I posted above, CA didn't say they made these changes to reflect how things were actually done back then, they made the changes for these gameplay reasons:

Provide more building options for all cultures and more interesting building combinations.
Make resource regions more important.
Improve the balance of the late game economy.
Balance food/squalor so buildings can be upgraded further.

I understand what you and CA are saying. What I am saying is that the game has been made more tedious and until you take these iron rich regions you are constantly getting your backside kicked by small factions with smaller stacks. I saying that on a personal level, I just don't like the change.

Its better this way. It actually means something having iron.
