This happens in all total wars. It's the launcher. Since they touched it with last patch they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it.

I'm really tired of this company

I can't play. Mod launcher is luggish. I can't select any mod or move it upwards.
Hey bro, this happened to me as well. Go to your steam directory to the following folder:
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\214950 (this is where all the Rome 2 mods are stored).

Delete all the mods and launch the game and go to the mod manager. It should then start to re-download them. I don't remember which mod was causing issues, but you can re-add them one by one to figure out which one is the problem. This has fixed it for me, hopefully it will for you too!

Thank you. Turns out I fixed it by deleting the launcher folder. What a clunky launcher these guys have.
I just tried what Curry Cat sugested. It did not work. Since the last update the Mod Manager does not start propperly. In TW Warhammer 2 I can still play the campaign but I cannot change mod order,. In TW R2 I just installed the vanilla game but I am unable to use the Mod Manager.

Hi Euridamo, Could you be more specific ? Did you just delete the folder 214950 that Curry Cat mentioned or was it something else. I emptied folder 214950 but did not delete it.

No bro. In this directory:
C:\Users\(YOURNAME)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly
is a folder called "launcher". Delete it and restar Rome 2 again. You will see all your mods disorganized again, but will work well.

I had to reorganize my mods but it worked

I did this before on it's own and had no result. Perhaps it is a combination of the two that helps, as in the end I had done both. Either way, looks to be like one or the other or both combined to solve the issue.

Atleast we're playing now! :)

Its not a permanent fix , its temporary fix.
Its a known bug with launcher and CA needs to fix it (see latest wh3 patch notes)
ALL tw games on steam use same launcher.
Deleting this folder deletes the launchers mod database config stuff for all tw games.

STILL COOKING
Here’s a short list of some issues that we couldn’t quite squeeze into this hotfix, but we see them and we’re working on them:

Mod manager/launcher performance issues.

I don't use the CA mod game launcher so for me its a non issue, I very much dislike it.
