Battles will not load. Freezes my pc
Any updated mod that I use will not load any battles. The battles load fine if I don't use any mods at all. I've tried one mod and i've tried 4-6 at a time and I still get the same results. I Once I load into the map, it will let me load the first turn or two but after 5-10 turns is when my battles won't load and I have to restart my pc because it freezes my screen. I've tried opening it as administrator and same results.

Common problem these days PROBABLY caused by windows 11 lastest update.

On a weird sidenote: running stuff as admin does override a few limitations....but is not restricted to other usage, like writing to certain folders.
As much as I hate the new limitation, it's pretty much well done for a common user.

PC freezing on the other hand is another issue.

Maybe start telling, what you have (hardware and such)
Unlike: "I Have mighty PC with mighty RAM and other BS"

: admin-rights are something else. And usually you are the "admin" with your basic login, if you installed the system.

In german I'd call it "Fertig-PCs" or stuff, you just buy and have no control off.

edit: a hard-freeze is actually a serious issue, if I did understand you correctly.

Did this and battles still not loading. Keep in mind, this is a new pc so I should not have any major problems already. 32gb ram, 3060ti, Ryzen 9 5900x.

I have been playing Rome 2 and many other total war games since Shogun came out over 25+ years ago on mulitple pcs. Never had this problem, Only in the past couple of years I have used mods and never had any issues. I've been hearing maybe it's a windows 11 problem but I also run the game with Windows 8 compatibility to see if it fixed that and it also did not work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and deleted all total war folders, then running with no mods. The result is the same, the very first turn I am able to load into the battles but a turn or two after that, the battle load screen freezes my pc and I have to restart.
did u ever try playing in windowed mode?

Yes, I have tried everything. Other people that have this same problem are saying it's because of the latest windows update. Others said they have tried everything and we just have to wait until they release a new update. And that other games have been affected by the update as well.

Try turning off Auto-HDR in your windows settings. this seems to be the thing that breaks games since last win 11 update.

I found a fix for the freeze on battle loading screen. Hope It works for you

Steps:

1. Launch the Game – Start Total War: Rome II

2. Open Task Manager
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.

3. Go to the Details Tab
In Task Manager, click on the Details tab at the top.
Look for rome2.exe in the list of running processes.

4. Set CPU Affinity
Right-click rome2.exe and select Set Affinity from the dropdown menu.

5. Unselect Some CPU Cores
A window will appear showing which CPU cores the game is using.
Uncheck a few cores (for example, if you have 6 cores, uncheck CPU 9 to 11).
Click OK to apply the changes.

6. Resume the Game
This fix can be applied even if the game has already frozen—just follow the same steps to unfreeze it.
