Rome 2 has sold over 1.2 million copies!
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/04/steam-gauge-addressing-your-questions-and-concerns/2/

Prolly the most accurate list of the most sold games on steam. Really interesting to say the least.

Considering Rome 2 is less than a year-old, it has 1,227,503 owners. Of those owners, 1,182,313 have installed and played the game.

Lets look at the other TWs.

Empire -- 2,681,877 owners, of those 2,406,127 have installed and played the game.
Napoleon -- 1,600,088 owners, of those 1,293,904 have installed and played the game.
Shogun 2 -- 2,044,609 owners, of those 1,871,227 have installed and played the game.

What do you guys think? Are these numbers truly accurate? Rome 2 had a lot of controversy but has sold over 1 million copies and its been 7 months since release.

I find it weird that the numbers are that high and in the multiplayer leaderboards only 45,000 people have played a multiplayer battle. Really shows that this franchise is still SP heavy and MP is only niche.

Discuss.

proabably accurate to be honest like once the game gets fixed up to proper standards people will buy it more and the numbers will go up for that reason like even the other total war titles started off bad its always been that way why we expected this to change this time specailly when we all asked for an early release is beyond me like for each of the so called great total war titles it was like a year before modding tools were out and the game was atleast playable and even then we didnt have as much freedom is past total war titles like shogun 2 to mod anything besides maps so by those facts in comparion id have to rome 2 total war is well on track specailly since we lost alot of our veteran modders to doing other things so the mod quality went down but the modding community is learning and getting back up to the standards we all know and want to see from the past mods that have been preasent since the end of rome 1

Actually the numbers are increbily high for the vitriol it recieved. I think it might outsell Shogun 2, maybe empire when its goes cheap.

Also, in terms of total profit, Rome 2 probably earned more than 70 million dollars in sales. Of course there was a 50% off sale one or two times, and valve gets a cut of the profits, so that might reduce the numbers they earn - but CA really made the MULLAH in such a quick time.

well valve is atleast proabably making like a good 10-20% cut in that 70 million but im glad to see they got alot of money should make it so we can see the fixes we want to see and still have a nice budget for the next total war to be made better then this one with even more improvements to the game from what they have already done (which are improvements from previous total wars) and really i wouldnt be able to tell from the numbers you were showing because all im seeing is rome 2 out ranked and out played by every other total war sold but they are years apart so i would need to see similar stats from the times that the other ones were released to make an accurate guess there
