Well. It has been done already. Med 1+2 and even Empire had a pretty well established and properly mentioned Ottomon Empire (as well as some of cultures and conquered peoples). Though if you are hoping for Rome II to do so, I fear you are in the wrong time frame. If my memory serves Islam really did not gain any major motion till 7th or 8th century.
Anyways, Rome II is based before Islam. I recommend playing the old Med II, an excellent game and you can be the Ottoman Empire and then finally quell those petty weak upstart Euorpean nations.

Thanks for the info Sooth Sayer. You are right, in total war rome 2, era of islam was not there yet, and Med 2 is the choice for whoever seeks to rerole the factions of islam
The above comments are correct... Islam is a bit too new for the Roman time period.

If CA did another medieval or resumed support of medieval 2 (would be nice, but unlikely) that would fit in much more.

Muslim Civilization rose right at the end of the wars between the Eastern Roman Empire and the Sassanian Empire, around 600 C.E.

However, it is possible to mod this, like the Rise of Christianity Mod, which depicts Constantine's Era. It would be hard, and, unfortunately, not enough people care about this time period : (, for there to be sufficient demand.

The Ottoman Era in Medieval 2 is less of a rise of Islam, as the beginning of the start of the long, long, fall to the end, simply because the Ottomans came last, and died after WWI

The original Medieval Total War starts with a very strong Islamic State in western Europe. About half of Spain, and most of northern Africa, is owned by the Almhodan ??? spelling??? empire. This is the empire that penetrated into the middle of France in the 7th century AD. It was, barely, stopped by Charles Martel's army then, but, in the game it is still very strong. In fact, in the campaign difficulty explanation it is pointed out that playing this faction is much easier than playing, say, England or France.
