How to use and counter Hoplite Phalanx formation?
Just hte title, flanking is sometimes not the best option for me because they have placed themselves in 'box' formation or have a large number of calvarly circling around like sharks

I'm guessing defensive armies aren't a fan of fighting siege weapons, unless they are doing the following:

As for using them I didn't even get any cavalry at all, just filled my armies with 1/3 pikes and the rest ranged troops, the enemies won't be able to win a ranged fight and if they approach they will have to deal with a wall of pikes.

Anyone that sits still, Pound them with artilliry, arrows and rocks, Then use infantry to mop up the rest. If they run then run them down with cav.

Also, if it comes down to it - just use your mobility and their lack of it to stack the odds in your favor - 3 or 4 of your units on 1 hoplite. If they move to counter - then they might finally expose a flank and you have an edge.
surround them with cavalry in advance of your main force, keep wheeling around the enemy so it does not know how to move or position its pikes, then when your many body has arrived, charge from all sides, but make sure your cav. does not run into those pikes.
