Etruscan League - Peace
I mostly play custome battles but figured it was time to give the campaign a go.

Playing on hard as Julia faction. Crushing the Etruscan league on land and sea. All they've got left is their city on Sardinia and it is blockaded.

In battles I've always released the survivors.

When I go to diplomacy and offer peace all I get from them is the proverbial single finger salute. They won't give up.

Must I wipe them out or is there some way to get them to go for peace?

Think you need to wipe them out, you'll have been at war with them so long your relationship value will be to low for them to accept peace. I could be wrong, never played as Romans for to long but it's something I've found in campaigns as other factions

You can attack them and then make vassals out of them if you want them to stick around and improve relations with them over a long period of time with bribes and stuff like that

I was going to suggest this also but then remembered, isn't there something about you can only vassel if it's the factions last main town? So if the Etruscans are on Sardinia, I don't think it'll offer that option. Again, I don't play as Rome so might be mistaken?

Yes he can only vassal them if they have one settlement left, if he kick them out of italia then they only have the island town left. Crush them there and make vassals out of them.

Hehe no problem, if i was the guy i would prob kill them of when i have the chance, more money to the Empire and fewer enemys on the map.

In my experience, (Playing as Rome)! the Etruscans, will be a thorn in your side, when you first start out on a campaign. I feel that you will have go and give them a 'Good stuffing'. There is little room in this game for personal feelings ! War is War .

I tried to make them vassals on my first play through as romans, they attacked me with only 1 genral unit right after i just smashed what little forces they had and subjagated their last town. So long sotry short slaughter the mofos they cant be trusted.

I found that they make a good client state that will keep Carthage and its client states resonably occupied while you consolidate and economic base in the north before taking them on yourself.

considering rome flung back and forth between the etruscan and latin league in the pre-republic era (as in; in actuall, factuall, reall life history) i would say getting a peace agreement on any difficulty should be impossible. especially as the founding of the republic involved an estrucan king being kicked out, as well as an etruscan alliance (the etruscans didnt form an actuall nation, they were more off a loose confederation) bearing down after and because off that.

i made them vassals after taking their last island, corsica. it was more trouble than it was worth. kept dragging me into wars... easier just to wipe them out.

I use a lot of mods, but with my experience if they are in total war, and you're seiging their last settlement with land units, then you can offer peace+client state. But I find that useless because I've never seen a defensive ally do anything.
last time I left the Etruscans alone on Corsica they would constantly try to reconquer their lost territories and since all factions are guaranteed 3000 denarii a turn (more than the taxes you get from the starting Roman lands), they can make a full stack army easily enough. One play through as Rome I decided to give them every chance to survive. After about 4 attempted invasions of Italy they accepted peace for 2000 denarii. A few turns later they just declared war again.
