Has anyone fixed the long loading times of prebattle and postbattle?

I've spent a lot of time trying to track down any fix for this, mostly because there are a million and one posts containing the keywords "Long Loading Times" with regards to the long factions loading times when the game came out.

My problem is, as I've seen a few others comment with no solution, is that the loading times prebattle and the loading times postbattle are long. Like, 3-4 minutes long. Long enough to make it frustrating to attempt to play a campaign, because the combined waiting time is usually longer than the actual battle itself.

Ideally this will be THE thread that people will stumble across years from now that contains the solution.

I am open to all suggestions. I've tried all normal options, turning everything to low, etc.

Thank you for your time!

Wow, that's a long time O.o Did you try verifying cache and all that? For me loading a campaign save takes a really long time, far longer than Shogun 2, but pre and post battle loading screens are very short. It was exactly opposite for shogun with me.

Anyway, a guaranteed fix would be to install the game on a SSD which pretty much eliminates loading times but that's a far from perfect solution
Yeah I've had it installed on my main HD and now it's on my external HD.

Installed it a couple times. Always been a problem.
This probably doesnt help but im running on SSD I7 4770k and 16GB DDR3. Have not had an issue after patch 1

Compared to Shogun 2, Rome 2 has some of the best loading I have seen in a Total war Game. Splash sreen being an exemplifying example.

Wait wait wait. You have your game installed on an EXTERNAL hard disc, and now you don't understand why it's taking so long to load? Wow.

You just quoted my three short sentences, and you completely missed the part where I say it was on my main HD and that it's always been a problem? Wow.

I've heard of selective reading but that's mighty impressive.

Anyways, yes I was reading on the Shogun forums that the loading times were an issue, and the only solution was a SSD. But this is the only game I have a problem with so spending more cash to solve it would be counter-productive at the moment. The game itself runs fine short of the loading issue.

I think the point, and it's a valid one, is that you probably want to stop exacerbating the issue by running it from an external drive if it's bothering you.

Move it to your internal HD at the very least, even if you don't get a SSD.
Yes as I've stated, I've had it on my main HD. I've spent hours of testing and tech support on the issue, going though each setting, etc.

I only brought up the fact that I also put it on an external HD to illustrate that I am trying everything in an attempt to solve this issue.

That said, there really wasn't a noticeable difference in loading times between the External and the Internal HD, for those of you trying to find solutions to this problem.

Wait, the same load time on an external disk? What are your hardware specs? Do you have very little texture memory out of interest?

What are the specs of your external disk and how is it connected?

Lol, loading screens doesn't take more than 10 seconds. Try to do a full format, or you can try to do a quick format.
