civil war as carthage. Please help?
Its not going well. Year 229 BC. I had 3 turns that turned everything upside down. I'm handling thwarting enemy invasions on africa in the early game and its just not going my way. Syracuse pulls a hannibal tactic on me while 3 of the african factions go to war on me and take 3 cities.
When I move my army or armies from my capital or Thapsus I'm either dealing with low public order issues another enemy army incoming from the sea or a civil war.

I have no idea whats causing the civil wars to happen. I have no political parties other than my dynasty. I have peerless political power and I get these random armies that pop up every 10 turns attacking Thapsus. Then once it kills my garrison it disappears off the map.

I swear I've never had issues with politics 2 years ago when they added the new stuff to the game. There is no cause for a civil war to take place. As far as I know my other houses seem to be happy. I don't know whats causing the constant civil wars. On top of that within 3 turns I had disease of my army, a civil war, and 2 other factions keep poking around in my territory and then leaving. I am getting really frustrated.

That sounds... odd.

Not sure what could be causing this, but lets see if we can narrow it down. (Apologies if any of these are things you've already done or sound obvious, just trying to get a better idea of what's happening.)

1. What OS, and patch are you playing on? I'm guessing PC with the default (Patch 20/Ancestral Update) but if not then it will affect politics.

2. What campaign and difficulty levels are you playing?

3. Are you using any mods? If so what?

4. Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game files?

5. You say that you have no political parties other than yours, but you also say as far as you know the other houses are happy, which is a little confusing. Do you mean you have no other parties at all, or that there are no characters from those parties left, or something else? Also how have you achieved this (mods, secessions/civil wars etc?)

6. Is it possible that you have a secession or civil war already in progress that hasn't ended by taking the last settlement belonging to the secessionists and wiping out their military? Could you please check the diplomacy screen for the Secession/Civil War factions? (Adirim Secessionists or Adirim loyalists in Vanilla I think.)

7. Any chance you could share screenshots of your Politics Screen. Character Screen, and the Civil War army you mention with it selected please? Might help to figure out what is going on to see it with my own eyes. Thanks.

You've got a bit of a mystery on your hands, but hopefully we can figure it out. :spacemonster:

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

Thanks for the reply. I guess any number I could respond to, but I may chalk it up as that I don't know how the political system works since its update. Its a bit overwhelming.
