At a limit for Generals?!? HELP
I have territoy occupied WITHOUT an army. I can't recruit new generals to occupy my provinces with armies. I am at "17/17" for Generals.

When I try to add a general to a city it wont allow me saying I am apparently at a limit until I capture new territory. Well, wtf.. I need a general to occupy my new province or else I will lose it to rebellion or such.

WHAT DO I DO ??

This is pissing me off because I cant keep expanding if I can't recruit new Generals. :X

Thanks in advance !

easy fix conqure more territory :l
So I just keep conquring more territory while leaving provinces without any army ???
Of course. No need to have an army in any city unless it's on the frontier with an enemy or very close to rebelling. Also I don't recall having this problem with the radious mod, which is pretty much imperative for this game...
i had no problem with no mods still took over most the world
True, you don't need mods to play and win, but it's waaaay better with Radious.
Like others said, you dont need to have an army in each city you conquer. This is true because we have city garrisons and they will keep any small rebelion army at bay.

My suggestions would be:
- Only keep armies in recent conquered cities until the squalor stabilizes or until it is safe that no enemy army will take over the city;
- I wouldn't always have the max generals recruited: this will help you keep your expenditure down and also to quickly recruit armies in areas where you actually need them (ex. you are moving east with your amies and a large rebellion pops up in the west - recruit two generals in the adjacent provincies and defend).

If you feel you need to have generals in every city because you have squalor issues, you should revise your buildings to improve squalor (temples, etc)
I have the Radeous MOD and blood texture mod. Thats only mods I use. Yet I have this issue. I was not aware of not needing a General in a city. I just feel like it's so...vunerable. Which is probably is.. I have a ton of territory. All of Germania practically, Roman penninsula , and some of Greek States .

Like kokan said, spread your generals out to the edges of your territory and just make sure you make wise building choices so you inner territory's are happy. its not too hard you just got to juggle.

Or if one army is useless, then disband it then you can create a general in the desired province

Don't think you can do that dude, you'd have to suicide your general in a battle or pay to assassinate him

If you disband an army the general goes back to the main recruitment pool, he will be available again in a turn or two.

Your welcome, and it took me awhile as well to figure out I could disband the general like any other unit.

LooooooL @Genghison. Just select the entire legion and disband them, including the general. You dont have to assassinate them (good thing)

Not really an issue, it is just a new design choice from Rome 2 :tgrin:

There is no vulnerability unless:
- you are at war and you risk getting infiltrated somewhere. Even then, depending on the buildings you choose to do you will get a decent garrison to help any recent recruited general.
- a recent conquered city that has high unrest.

In my games the only time I ever reached the maximum nr of generals was early game, after that... don't recall happening. Usually have 2-3 armies roaming and conquering and have the remaining generals waiting in case I need them and have them pop out near to the action.
