Archeology can only go so far, it cannot prove that peolpe "existed" in a certain place... trade has existed and has really messed up these things... eg chinise coins being found in dark age wessex...
jsut because certain "slavic" objects have been found in eastern europe does not mean they were "created" there... much less prove that slavic people lived there :)....
but who know? i havnt studied eastern europe :)...
There's no writing about them at this point, and so how are we going to have playable Slavic factions if for starters we don't even know their names?
As someone said, archeology can only go so far. How is CA supposed to recreate their armies with absolutely no documention on them to give any ideas? Same goes for their buildings, tech trees, and starting conditions. Archeology alone can't provide for all of that.
It would involve too much guess work and leave so much to the imagination when creating your proposed factions so as to render such a possibility more in the realm of fantasy than historical accuracy/authenticity.
Also don't want any shoehorned and unnecessary factions that feel out of place. There's still some room left for CA (if they had not stopped updating Rome 2) if they wish to add anymore playable factions: there's still the largely unscathed North African tribes as well as many kingdoms in the Near East for instance, plus some Germanic and Britton tribes could use some more love.
That being said, I would still like some playable proto-Slavic/Slavic factions in Attila. There's rumors suggesting that.
They had dealings with the Sarmatians the Finno-Ugric peoples in Finland at most: they weren't developed or advanced civilizations by any means, even compared to the Germanic and Celtic peoples in Western Europe during the same period.
To be fair, there are some rumors that the Balto-Slavic peoples were fierce warriors and constantly enslaved and tormented the Sarmatians and Scythians on the steppes, and there was supposedly a lucratice slave trade business on the border of Sarmatia and the Russian region. However, as I have said, the regions of Russia and Ukraine were far-too sparsely populated to have any major impact on history or civilization until at least after the death of Christ (0 BCE).
Historically there were no Slavic tribes in Roman times, Slavic tribes appeared several hundred years later. That is the thing we who know history know.
I feel sparta was purely implemented as a 300 rise of an empire tie in pretty sure around this time sparta was a part of a league I cant remember the name
Though the thing is total war is mostly an alternate history type game you can bring a nation back from the brink and do what ever you want you shape history to your liking
in atilla you can restore the roman empire to it's height in rome 2 you can win the punic wars as carthage
etc
last post was in 2 hours how is that a necro?
Shameful display!
