Immediately after the capture of the Nemetocenna Citadel, we were attacked by a recapture attempt from the Nervii. This was essentially a suicide attack. Beginners, Open Up Your Possibilities!! #75 Julius' Grand Campaign Turn 68 "2nd Nemetocenna Citadel S
There was no way we could be defeated, but the enemy forces were still substantial, and they were also equipped with longbows. We had to be prepared for the casualty count to reach double digits.
To avoid the longbow fire from the walls, we abandoned the wall-based defense and decided to stake everything on the battle at the gate.

We deployed ballistae on both flanks to enable crossfire. After the longbows on the walls had fired for a while, we pulled them back.
The left flank is on high ground, allowing us to fire down on the enemy.
The cavalry deployed to encircle the enemy.
The infantry were positioned slightly back from the walls, with the objective of holding the gate and the left flank slope.
The reinforcements, apart from the ballistae, should be able to join the battle.
With this deployment, we would be able to deliver flanking and rear fire no matter where the enemy attacked.
2.Fortunately, we succeeded in destroying one of the enemy's ladders.

3.The enemy attacked from the front and left flank, but were routed by the concentrated longbow fire. The follow-up forces were disoriented by the crossfire from the ballistae.

4.The enemy's second wave of attack.

5.The enemy seems to have shifted the focus of their attack to the left flank. We'll have the cavalry attack the enemy archers and pull the right flank infantry to the center to quickly finish the fight at the gate.

6.We've won the battle at the gate and are now encircling the enemy on the left flank.

7.Finally, the enemy's entire force begins to falter.

It was nothing short of fortunate that the casualty count was kept to single digits in this battle. If a large-scale melee had broken out, it would not have been surprising to lose 40 soldiers.

The Nervii were annihilated in this battle, allowing us to secure the coastline for the conquest of Britain.

Enjoyable battle report.

A good defense strategy and well executed. Using the advantage of the high ground with your archers on the left proved fortunate as the second wave pushed your left flank and the archers would have been a big factor in their subsequent collapse.

May I ask which graphics card you're using? The screenshots are good and the unit details and size are substantial. A good CPU aswell?

Thank you for the evaluation. The Battle Report is posted twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Don't miss it.

The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070.
The CPU is an Intel(R) Core i7-3770 @ 3.60GHz.
The PC is an old model that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, but it provides sufficient visual performance for gaming and social media browsing.

Looks good!

I do read them a fair bit and find them interesting and not too long.

Keep them coming.
