Low Memory warning
Wonder if anybody can assist or explain this one. I've done a bit of web searching but nothing conclusive.

I recently done a fresh windows install and now when I play rtw2 I'm getting this graphics card has low memory message on the loading screens.

My GPU has 12gb so it can't be that, and this is where it gets a bit odd.

If I leave the scripts gfx video memory to 0 it will display the card has 3098mb video memory in the graphics options and when I sent everything to ultra/extreme the benchmark runs fine, 60fps minimum but I get this memory running low message.

So, if I change the script from 0 to -4000 it will display 4098mb video memory in the options, with everything set to ultra/extreme the bench mark chugs at barely above 25fps! But not getting this memory running low option.

The solution isnt ticking Unlimited memory and this just brings in a whole lot of stutter and the same awful FPS.

I've tried changing the script to -12000 to reflect the cards 12gb of ram but the game will still only display 4098mb video memory in the graphics menu and still affects the FPS in the benchmark. I believe 4gb video memory is the max it can usltilise anyhow.

Is there anything to be concerned about this message or just ignore it and play, annoying as it is. I cannot really see any graphics being downgraded with it but then again who knows.... I do like to read the profound little loading screen quotes, it's all part of the experience.

The thing is when I run GPU tweak alongside to measure the FPS I've noticed it's not using anything above 2gb of the cards 12gb memory whatever I set the script to.

So, what does anyone suggest?

Thanks

just tick unlimited video memory. if your GPU has over 4gb of Video Memory.

Tried that but by using system ram rather than GPU memory it brings stutter due to this extra process...

I've realised that the graphics and frame rates are much better when the script is set to 0 however, there's this annoying message.

Guess just have to live with it, annoyingly

Tick unlimited memory. Fixes it and no issues on my end when it comes to performance.
I always made sure to tick unlimited memory of BECAUSE otherwise game will force change your settings. Now the issue is that in Rome 2, is you lower some settings, they wont be processed by GPU but by CPU now. This means that in Rome 2, having some stuff set to low will make your performance worse.

By default game also reads up to 3GB of VRAM but you can trick it to read up to 4GB VRAM with simple edit. Here is instruction for it from our DeI forum:

1)Go to (C:\Users\User name(your profile)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts\preferences.scripts . Open it with Notepad.
2)Now scroll down to like the 10th line of the text & look for gfx_video_memory 0;
3)Now change it to gfx_video_memory -2000; or -4000;
