Which Carthage to play?
I've been mulling over what new game I should start. I've always been intrigued by Carthage but never gave it a serious try. I was wondering if it was best for the "Carthage experience" to play them in Grand Campaign or in Hannibal at the Gates?
Ideas?

Neither experience is historically accurate because Carthage was one giant unified superpower when Grand Campaign starts, and during the events of Hannibal at the Gates it was disjointed and puny, and in this game everything is exactly 180° the other way around. I have no idea why the devs did this. What’s especially weird is that they juggled around with the configuration of Carthaginian territories a lot and the starting situation we’ve got today is what they finally settled on, so it’s not like they didn’t do any research.

Hannibal at the gates campaign kinda sucks ngl, just stick to grand campaign.

Neither are gonna give you a good recreation of the punic wars if that's what you're going for, so might as well go out for the larger and more thought out option
hannibal at gate carthage is extremly difficult

not recommended

Hannibal at the Gates is entirely alright, or at least comparable to Grand Campaign, provided you play with Ultimate Fixes.

Bro really started with saying neither is good, saw two people dunk on Hannibal at the gates, then quickly came back to the rescue (while saying you need mods, lol)

I don't want to turn this to a review section, because you can just go to the dlc store page for those, but imo you're gonna have a better time on grand campaign

I never said one was worse and then specified that Hannibal was at least comparable to Grand Campaign. You finding the mods part amusing is odd given the track record of the franchise.

In Para Bellum mod grand campaign, Carthage starts out a bit stronger (though Para Bellum is harder than vanilla generally). And if you have Rise of the Republic, Para Bellum allows you to play Carthage in that scenario as well.
