Watch one of legend of total war recent youtube videos - he hinted at talks he had with TW who said the next title is a warhammer game, then after that it will be m3tw

one glance at this game's store page should tell you everything you need to know, and the answer is no. CA almost went bankrupt making innovative historical TW games like Rome 2 and Attila. There is simply not enough demand for another historical TW title to justify the production cost. The current historical TW fanbase are too adverse to spending money and buying DLCs that there are virtually no profitability for CA to invest into, and there are not enough historical fans to simply just charging them $60 for something like a satisfactory Medieval TW3 and be profitable. Your best chance is to wait another indie company to fill in the void.

LOL? the problem with total war is just its not a casual gaming experience that if add all the new money making profit would kill off its title for sure no one want to fight tw: teletubbies online its also not a brand name in the console market..

i mean cmon people have lives not gonna spend 10+ hours on a campaign in one sitting.. On top of that gaming has pulled away from PC market and is saturated in the console market.. there is a lot of things that the gaming community could fix to position total war has a top tier brand name.. but in 20 years will all still think total war was one of the best pc games ever made even if we disagree on the developmental evolution of the title

This community is a bunch of Rts players which was always small anyway.. From my point of view they lose from not staying a historical franchise.. these kids these days are just interested in minecraft fortnight n roblox... my generation was playing Unreal tournament, cs 1.6 quake, need for speed, rts, mmorpgs.. That why we make fun of these guy playing teletubies online in 2024 claming to be esports pro's on yt when there esbr rating is age 6 and below with a chat community that is age 21 explicit..

Anyway this guys business is a flop anyway you just want your dev team on holiday while you wait to receive revenue lmao.. sure bro.. next he will be saying that no one buys 60$ games because we are all anti socialism and dont get a government to pay for all my game for free and when i say free i meaan its really free pay my employees free money too..

Realistically they should just join up with battle.net or xbox live or merge with a profitable studio... or you know develop a nice title that they can monetize with all the trash money making stuff to fund development of other titles..

Im not sure why they dropped support for total war arena f2p!!! it had a fairly large hype cycle in media but it would of been a great way for them to keep people on there TW: Franchise Launcher day dreaming of when they will buy there next title it also could of been on console or even mobile to advert for TW Main game type pc RTS.....

You are right that most historical TW fans are too old to enjoy games like TW, which explain why every single historical TW games for the last decade all turn out to be flop. There is simply no future for historical TW game.

It make sense that CA would cater to the more numerous young adult audience who prefer fantasy genre than historical and more willing to spend money for larger content through DLCs. And maybe down the line they will invest into a TW game more suitable for the youth? tho I highly doubt they will ever make a teletubies game since that TV show is older than fossil.

nah man i disagree fully the games not a "FLOP" the new gaming industry is a "Flop" dying more every year because they audience dont see value in the hobby...

A new warhammer would probably just split the player base.. they shouldnt release a new warhammer until they develope a engine that re-engages the Historical Fans from the Re-fresh of there age old archtype of gameplay... like letting you first person generals or something really cool we havent seen before even though we have [Savage 2}. The wall battles are pretty painful to watch as well with BLOBS being a big problem for immersion.

California one of the largest gdp in the USA basically has dropped most of its gaming industry... to much teletubbies.. the gaming culture has drifted to far from modern culture expectations everyone is a Unreal developer now at university instead of building a new modern engine with newest dev kits.. I just played Season 3 of CoD Warzone mobile and i wont buy a battlepass again if i have to spend over 5 all nighters; i also did dailys almost everyday and played like 3 games a day with friends its just to much between working & school...

No one got time for a 10h campaign like over here that why they really needed ARENA on the market... they should of just Kept the TW:Arena online in house and used it to bring in new people into the genre and ported it to Console & Mobile cross play then added some fair skins ect.. if money was a issue...

Bring Back Total War: Arena F2P

You can play a campaign over multiple game sessions... Dont have to play a campaign all in one go

which is fine for the offline RTS Community we like this but the Large networks of gamers dont it makes it not that compatible for modern PVP, or esports environments among other things....

The online pvp community will come if the game is really worth it.
i mean something like Bannerlord is reeally pushing close to TW w/o isometrics..

ALso i find it hard to believe TW is a bankrupt flop from some steam forum teletubbie
warhammer is top 50 most active steam users

bring back tiger knight

well I am not sure how to say this but the fantasy side of genre is still extremely popular and profitable for CA despite average campaign lasting 20+ hours. People clearly got time and money, they just don't care about historical setting. If people aren't playing this game because it takes 10 hours per run? then that just mean this game is a flop.

You say CA need to update the engine to reconnect historical fan, but you haven't explain for what reason should CA even consider giving a f*k about historical fan. This game, Rome 2, is the literally proof that trying to appease historical fans is but a futile attempt, as it is well known that the devs have almost went bankrupt over Rome 2 and Attilla. Throne of Britannia was going to be the final resting place for total war franchise, Warhammer was where total war reborn anew.

While you bemoaning about the industry, the CA new fanbase have no problem embracing the new industrial practice. The newer fanbase doesn't have problem adapting to the new industrial practice and are much more willing to pay a reasonable cost for a good time, and the more they pay the more CA are financial incentivized to make more games for them. Will releasing the next Warhammer game really going to split the player, or will CA simply shave off the annoying 10% fanbase who never really contribute anything worthwhile to the franchise by doing so. It's not even a question at this point.

I feel personally attacked in this line.

could be worse like a warhammer fan boy claiming the TW historic franchise is a flop and we should all play teletubbies online

"(...)there is an issue that Rome 2 sometimes stays active in the task manager, while it is not anymore running on the taskbar. However Steam still recognize it is running and so you cannot close Steam either informing you with a message the game is still running. Right?

Right click on the Windows Taskbar, run the taskmanager and locate Rome2.exe process. Right click and select to kill the process; (...) "

The problem is always that the game mode is old and the same perpetually. It's not the historical game that is not appealing but its game mode. Once it was innovative but now it repeats itself over and over and people start getting tired of it. But CA still doesn't want to or have no talent to offer some new mode. Nomad migration is a good little step forward, but as we all know, Attila project was soon abandoned.
As CA can't change TW's game mode, so the only way they can do to catch some players is to find some unique subject or theme. Then they produce the warhammer, which has almost no other competitors. Well, yes, it sells. But I shall say people will get tired of it soon too. Even CA produces Medieval 3, as long as the game mode is the same, it won't sell well.

Why play MTW3 if you have Mount and Blade 2? Much more fighting, instead of sitting still boringly while you play "medieval ambassator simulator".

MB2 is half-baked crap. Empty towns, demented combat mechanics on highest difficulty (peasants parrying a lance at full speed with max skills, what), ridiculous AI, zero endgame, broken economy. Without a doubt the worst game I've ever spent $ for on Steam.
LSD Jun 6, 2024 @ 1:25pm
M3TW ain't gonna happen while Warhammered is the cash cow. Gen Z will happily fork over for DLC of an uber space knight (yet still complain they can't afford a deposit) time after time after time, and while that keeps up, the investment in a successor just isn't worth it to SEGA.

And if it did happen, it would be atrocious. CA's track record has been hot garbage for over a decade. Remember all the PR ♥♥♥♥♥ they put out for Rome 2? And before that, for Shogun 2?
No thanks.
