Typos happen. Did you ever point it out to CA?
The Atrebates were one of the last tribes in Gaul to fall to Julius Caesar. Then the Atrebates, under the Caesar appointed king Commius, aided Caesar in Gaul and Britain until betrayed by Rome. He was one of the leaders of the tribal army sent to try and relieve Vercingetorix at Alesia. Eventually fleeing to Britain, Commius issued coins as did his sons, who ruled an area encompassing Silchester and Chichester. The Atrebates are arguably one of the most important tribes in Gaul and Britain during the period from the Conquest of Gaul to the Conquest of Britain. As such, it is unforgivable for a game which purports to be based on history to misspell the tribe name. Worse, from a company which used to pride itself on historical accuracy. Shame on CA for being so uncaring. Greed appears to have overcome due diligence.
Well that's one way of looking at it. Or one could say you're missing out on a lot of fun over an R.
Either way.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to take my incredibly historically accurate army of massed Iceni chariots to smush Carthage in the year 1AD, where I believe I shall recruit some elephants. Just cos.
I think the A-tribe commited a generic tribal suicide due to spelling mistakes. They were the original spelling-nazi's ;-)
LOL!
Cheers!
The spelling is a symptom of the disease, not the disease. There were many other problems on release. And yet, 17 patches later, one would think CA could bother to correct something so simple.
Of course, for the gamer kiddies, I suppose it wouldn't matter if they were playing Rime II: Total War. And perhaps in the above case, the Vanilla Ice chariots could happily smush Crathage and no one would mind. However, for those of us who are not simply barely literate CS:GO players, the historical milieu was what drew us to the Total War games in the first place. Gameplay used to be decent. Historical accuracy was taken as a matter of course. Now, if it pleases the console kiddies, that appears to be all that matters. Fair enough. We really can't expect the old CA to reappear, when they can make good money selling cheapened product to adolescents.
Indeed, much, much better explanned. Your original text (no offence) let us believe you were a bit of an "uptight, over the top, spoiled little princes".
Since you're so tightly wound about spelling mistakes, be sure to make none yourself ;-)
PS: "Rime II" (you almost make it sound like rimjob) ;-)
Cheers!
TW games... I trust their version of history about as much as I trust the integrity of the average British tabloid. But I do enjoy their games though...
Personally, I think I prefer just a typo.
