What's the most fun campaign you've played in any TW game ever?

Rome II Grand Campaign Suebi conquer half the world via talking with people. Had like ten battles in total, ended up owning everything north of Italia-Thracia line and with about two hundred people in my family alone, the most influential character was over a hundred years old and his influence eclipsed the actual king. At one point I switched the whole empire from farming to animal husbandry, food dropped from about a hundred to about zero but income became completely insane and allowed me to field the barbarian equivalent of Roman legions everywhere I had conflicts. Craziest playthrough.

My first TW campaign ever in Shogun 2, my first ally and starting neighbor eventually betrayed me due to the great power penalties I was unaware of at the time. My 4th born and youngest son was stationed in the town they hit and he died valiantly in the barely successful defense of the town.

That reminds me somewhat of my game as Baktria. I held my starting army for the first 20 turns or so as a deterrent, then disbanded it. I focused on economy for the whole game. Used that money to buy allies nearby and pay them to attack my enemy. Eventually bankrolled an entire alliance that conquered the world without ever fighting a single battle. Only total war campaign I’ve fully completed in a single day of play. Never had more than 7k per turn as far as I remember, had no army at all past turn 25 or so and won through military alliances.

I do not remember the specific game (most likely original Rome Total War), but the faction was Greek. After luring Athens out, I betrayed them to take Athens. Nine battles later in that first turn cycle after taking Athens, I had one lonely soldier remaining after him and his 7 brothers were all that remained starting the last battler. It was a true Spartan war outnumbered almost 10 to one for the first battle. It was an amazing few hours!

I wonder why they never allowed for an economic victory anywhere outside of Rome II Grand Campaign. Your Bactria campaign is like the definition of that. More like diplomatic even, actually.

The faction Athens only exists in Rome II so I guess you were playing Rome II. Or perhaps some Peloponnesian War mod for the original Rome that I never heard of.

Probably either an Aranessa Saltspite campaign in TW:WHII right after Vampire Coast came out before the gunmen got nerfed, I relished those gunlines! or my first complete Total War campaign as the Franks in Rome: Barbarian Invasion

Probably Pontus.

Pretty sure it was Rome Total War Greek against Macedonia. No, Athens and Sparta as factions did not exist, but the cities did.
