Game freezes when attempting to quit to desktop

Wanted to post here before going to CA for direct support in case anyone has had this issue recently/in the past.

Whenever I try to quit to desktop, be it from the main menu or from in-game, the game will just freeze and I have to kill it via Task Manager. Upon restarting the game, it doesn't seem to save any of my settings from the previous session, such as graphical, controls, camera, etc.

Anyone got any advice before checking with CA on this?

Sounds like could be game is having problems writing to location of saves and preferences.
It's one of the possibilities, usually this is related to windows security and or antivirus settings.

%appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Rome2

note: by default %appdata% is a hidden folder in windows so you may need to change windows setting to show hidden files
