How to get a Client state/Satrapy
I'm playing as Rome and i've tried multiple times to get a client state. Not from large groups but nearly dead/destroyed groups. Groups with only one settlement. I've tried with people who hate me and have asked for peace. And also people who i've been friendly with. Also how do you get a satrapy state. (Not sure the proper use of that word XD) I've never seen an option for it...

I had to offer them lots of gold. Also you can make client state from nation you destroyed after conquering their last settlement.

Only eastern nations (maybe also seleucids?) can make satrapies and they work very similar to client states.

Also i was wondering in your opinion is having a client state worth it? Such as your don't make much money... So are there any other benefits?

When you conquer a settlement, you can occupy, loot or raze it.
If its nation's last settlement there will be the fourth icon for making client state

Oh ok thank you for the info

If you want to force it, take their last settlement and choose the "subjugate" option. Otherwise pay them lots of money and sometimes you'll get it to happen.

Ok so, why make a client state:

1) you don't have to hunt down the rest of their troops if they're in an annoying spot
2) the client state will rebuild its armies, defend itself, and even expand if you give it time - if your forces are stretched it might help you out, and in any case you shouldn't need to defend it
3) you can levy troops from the client state. As Rome this is less compelling because you can get most kinds of troops you'd want as auxiliaries, but there's still a few troop types you can't get that way: pikemen, cataphracts, high end barbarian infantry.... you do have to be quite patient doing this though
4) the client state can sometimes be good bait to get one of your allies to betray you, if you're the type (like me) that has a bit of trouble doing all of the betraying themselves...

To be honest as Rome client states are useless .Take them over and get more money.

As Donald said, it would be better simply to take the settlement. But if you want to make it a clinet state and get access to some cheap units, I would make it in a key providence and make it out of a powerful faction, like the Selecuid Empire acting as a buffering state.
