Why would I want a rebellion ? To get rid of characters with bad traits from other families?
when you see a rebellion is coming anyway and you want to get it out of way before new war.

There's only a single rebellion ?

It gets rid of the party. You can park armies near the settlements of the disloyal party and then provoke the secession when most convenient. Make sure you remove all their generals and admirals from all commands etc. If their influence is low that they only control a few settlements you can have a nice 1 turn war then roll the dice on getting better party traits on the next.

There can be multiple rebellions in a game but you are protected between each one for a bit, there is a large loyalty bonus with the other parties for crushing it etc. Just beware that when a new party forms it often takes your best general as its leader.

its not a good idea to remove their generals.. because every rebellion gets an army.. If they don't command any, they will get a randomly spawned one, which might be of high quality... so its better to give them some weaker/recently recruited rookies, while having your veterans nearby to mop them up...

Cheers for the help everyone. I usually do my best to keep loyalty as high as possible, so I haven't encountered a rebellion before, despite my hours played.
