Changing Unit Sizes
I don't really know where to put this as I do not post in the forums often, but I think this could help a lot of people. I was messing around with my save files and wanted to learn how to change the army size from 20 to 40. Anyways a while searching on the internet, I decided to look for anything with the number 20 and change it to 40. After a few attempts I finally found the one. I used EditSF for this as I have heard it is really good. Anyways it can be a little confusing so I thought I could help out new players such as myself. I just want to point out that this is not really cheating as every other nation can have 40 units in a single army as well, but this does lead to much larger battles. Anyways to change the unit size you open your save game from the appdata folder(Keep a backup in case you screw something up, I learned the hard way) in EditSF, expand CAMPAIGN_SAVE_GAME, COMPRESSED_DATA, CAMPAIGN_ENV, then click once on CAMPAIGN_MODEL, do not expand it and it should be ones with 20. Change it to however large you want and save it. Change both because one is for land units and the other is for naval. Keep in mind that if you have 400 units in one battle it will take a lot more resources from your computer and will slow it down. Anyways I hope this helps people out.

Yes while in the campaign you can only have 20 units in your army but this allows you to set it to whatever you like

Hmm.. I think the whole point of the cap was so people do not cause a blue screen because they recruited a few hundred units too many...

Good tip, but I do not suggest anyone use it unless they want a buttload of lag when armies come in with reinforcements that are full stacks of the extra 10 you added on top of the 30 unit stack they had vs your 30 unit stack...

AI will simply spam recruitment to fill the new caps.

About the OP... 400 units would probably crash anyone's machine :P.

You can do 40 units in this game on the field with your army, just have a reinforcing full stack.

No it's cool you didn't sound like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you were helpful. The whole point of making this discussion was to help and if it were confusing like you said then nobody would understand it. Thanks though

What I found is that aslong as its not an unreasonable amount of troops then you should be fine. I'm now getting 5000 troop battles and that is a lot more cool than 1000.

See, I keep getting confused here by "unit" and "troops"...

So you didn't try raising the unit size (men in each unit)?
The most men I've had in a single battle was 18,000. Single digit Framerate till there was about 10,000 left lol. Now it was modded to double the number of men in each unit. The rise of Christianity mod. I actually took images of the whole thing here. http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/102659-Epic-Screenshot-Thread-Time!?p=1182441&viewfull=1#post1182441

Scroll down to post #2323 if it doesn't automatically out you there. Same username as steam.

No I did not raise the men in each unit just the limit to how many people you can have in your army. The default is 20 I changed it to 40

What unit scale are your forces set at?

I have no clue what you just said. The number of soldiers within a unit is the same so its still 120 or 60.
