Request: An up to date guide on how to put a unit made in TWeak tool into the game
I have spent all day trying to get a unit into the game. All there are is mumbling people on youtube, out of date guides, or ones that don't tell me what I need to do. I made a skin in the assembly kit's Tweak > variant editor. Now I want to put that into the game. I have all the files I need to extract to my mod in one place, I just don't know how to get my unit in the right place.

If I could be directed to a guide or if someone here wants to help me, that'd be swell. Thanks.

did you make a unit or just retexture? for retexture, save it as definition, you need to name it properly with the corresponding unit. you need to use PackFileManager create new pack, then right click where it says untitled and add directory then you choose the variantmeshes folder where you placed your variantdefinition file. then you will green text with a directory variantmeshes/variantdefinitions/xxxxx.variantdefinition. you then save the pack file in the Rome 2 data folder..and run check it when running rome 2.

I made an entirely new unit (look wise). I want it to be an archer unit for Athens. I'm unsure on how to make it's stats, or how to make it an individual unit in Rome2.

what I usually do because I dont know the correct process as well is download a small unit mod pack from the workshop and edit the whole thing to my particular unit and save it..

Lol don't use tweak use PFM. There's like 10 million guides for PFM and none for tweak.

Yeah this seemed the most simple.

PFM doesn't let me make a completely new unit, though, does it?

Yes it does. It's how I (and most of the modding community) made my mod.

If you know how to use PFM it is much more flexible with unit creation and allows you to do more than with Tweak.

Tweak is good for basic stuff and for seeing your unit straight away without loading up the game.... however what you see in Tweak isnt always how it appears in game so you still need to load it up.

Heed the advice of the above comments. Since this post I have made about 160+ units fully put into the game. Use Sebidee's guide linked above.
cheers
