Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Statistiche:
Armies in ambush stance getting attacked/going out of ambush stance?
I've had about 3 times where my army (made specifically for ambushing and will have less of a chance in open combat) in ambush stance will simply get attacked by enemy armies, an I'll have to run away. It just happened now. I was on the border of Maracanda just north of the river that divides it and Baktra. I went into ambush stance in the forest, and next turn I see them just standing there out of their stance.

They were repleneshing troops which is my guess, but I swear I've done that before. Also I have spotted Baktra, so another guess is that the non-defined sightlines are "spotting" my army from another region. Can someone break it down for me? Thanks.

Ambush Stance only gives you a chance to ambush. Your army can fail or be spotted and then attacked. I also think your army switches stances when they get detected.

But then unless I'm mistaken, there is 0 indication of whether they can be detected or not. I was across a border out of anyone's zone of influence.
mouse over a small area and it will tell you about the terrain and ambush success chance

Yes thats for if they walk by me. Generals can upgrade something referred to as "sight line" via some attributes, but you can't see your sight lines or enemies' sightlines. And I'm pretty sure I'm being spotted by those over borders.

Stick them in a forest away from the road as far as possible and go into ambush stance.

I'm not asking how ambushes work or how to do them. I'm asking why my armies leave ambush stance on their own when an enemy *has not walked by them at all, and the ambush did not fail*. They simply leave ambush stance.
they get spotted duh
Firstly, I'm not sure ambushes always fail "properly".

Secondly, have you got an agent problem, or does the general have the "obvious" trait?

I actually have a mod that removes all agents so that can't be it, and I'm pretty sure he does not have that trait.

I'm also pretty sure ambushes don't notify you all the time when they fail, but the main issue here is that on 2-3 occasions, my ambush has been "cancelled". On one occasion, the least likely one for this to happen, it said they were "spotted". However, I was across a border, across a river bridge, and halfway to my town, in a forest with 65% ambush success chance. And when it was my turn and I could see their things, they were all by their town, definitely not close enough to spot me.

There are some traits that give you +1 to sight line, but the sight lines aren't defined, or if they are it is not obvious. If simply being in some general's sightline is what is causing this, ambush is hardly worth it (especially since the majority of the southern/eastern half of the map has very little viable ambush spots).
the town itself can spot agents/armies esp in higher lvls

Right, but would it really spot me across the border, over a river? I know agents can be spotted if they're on the edge of the zone of influence or in it, but that far away? Unlikely. I described the exact location if you want to check the campaign map yourself.
I feel like this is all annoyingly vague and inexact, perhaps I have failed to read the documentation/understand the functionality properly.

It would be nice if we could get someone from CA to chime in on these matters and clear things up properly.
