I currently have a nice game going with Athens, but I find legions more fun to fight with than hoplites. The hoppys are effective, but not very flexible, as in real life.
But Seleucids are where its at, being completely surrounded by enemies and all have the same quality of units up to tier three, exept the Greek factions which have early game hoplites. So Hard but once you start to get the tier four units and steam roll a lot of fun.
Macedon a close second with Iceni in third.
I like Averni(Gaul) because they are central, are heavy sword, bow, moderate cav and average spear units. Very good faction to play as a shock force/ambushing army.
Macedon- I like for solid defensive play
Iceni-Are strong a skirmish army, Cav,missile and decent sword, spear units not to mention they are in a very strong starting position on the map.
I find hellenistic armies to be not very flexible
Really? thats the only faction I cant play cause I get killed by everybody from all sides.
But to me its Parthia and The Massagetae
