Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Syracuse way too powerful?
Every time I play as rome, I notice that syracuse within 1-5 turns immediatly starts raising a massive army and takes over sicily, and eventually will take over corisca et sardinia. It really annoys me because I love playing as rome and getting into a big war with carthage, but its kinda hard to do with the greeks constantly getting in the way. I was wondering is there a way to stop this, or a way to prevent syracuse from going full nazi and taking over eveything?

are u kidding? they don't even have a wall. And if you want, u can kill them in first 3 turns.
He is talking about the AI.

Download mods that make ancient empires like Carthage really strong. It will make you happy.
Try Skarr's Major and Minor Factions mods they are great.Stops that in majority of times
Syracuse is a major faction now though, so it might not help too much. I agree that the AI Syracuse is way too powerful and aggressive right now though.
U can easily kill them in 2 turns with 2 army at South
Once again we don't mean they're too hard as a player to take out, we mean that by the end of about turn 30 they own the entirety of western Africa and have annihilated just about every faction that so much as looks at them wrong.

This, Syracuse AI is way too strong compared to other factions near it
I played Carthage and kill Syracuse first
They arent over powered, their just right, its the major factions problem for not dealing with them accordingly, ive beaten the game with most factions, they werent that much of an issue at anytime, compared to factions like nervi and boii that were just as small as syracusa and end up taking over most of europe.

For me nervi and boii gets destroyed during first few turns :D
Well syracusa was actually a power house during those times, and they also had genius inventors. It's no wonder that they could spread fast unless major factions focuses it down fast.

Strange in most of my games Carthage tyically takes them out and then the lands become contested between Rome and Carthage assuming I am not playing any of those factions. Syracuse sometimes tends to hold Carthage off but rarely expands beyond Sicily for me.

It's interesting - I've seen this a lot as Greek/Eastern factions, but if I start in Northern Europe the area gets attacked by Gauls/Celts. I wonder if in some way you displace or change the characteristics of neighbouring factions.
Syracuse usually takes lilybauem in my games, but it seems to be pot luck as to whether it expands any further. I would say that Syracuse isn't too strong, it's just that Carthage is too over stretched to protect Sicily and Syracuse has Rome as a friend, so it stays alive more easily.
They buffed Syracuse in order to make sure the Roman AI doesn't get spanked.
As the Romans I usually don't wait too long to take Syracuse and Lilybaum, you need to take out Syracuse before they expand too much.
