massila is considerably easier but only starts out with one capital city.
bacteria got it's east flank covered, is easy to play as but is landlocked.
so make your pick.
Massilia has much better traits for trading: a diplomatic bonus, a port, and once you take over your home province, a resource to trade! This is what makes an early trading powerhouse. Pontus is also very good for trading early. To a lesser extent, Cimmeria and maybe Athens if you can grab Apollonia early. They don't have a diplomatic bonus but they are Greek with no maluses which is the next best thing. Galatia and the Arverni are also pretty good at establishing trade once they get a few settlements.
If you are looking for best trade victory factions, those are the worst factions.
