This is all I can think of. I wish you goodluck solving this :-)
No problem :-)
That is exactly the reason why you get good help (on this forum) ;-)
Personally I haven't tackled Legendary difficulty yet (due to the save games & Rome 2 still has its issues sometimes). I always do campaigns on Very Hard difficulty but spiced up heavily with numerous of unit mods & "spiced-up" AI mods for an very aggressive AI.
you basicly made your own legendary setting :) im searching for the list you said but dont seem to find it annywhere though. (Never really spend much time on forums etc i usually just keep to myself and play the game all alone :p)
Hmmmm, could be mods. Again, check the list of jfl26261, maybe that will work/solve your issue.
Please don't use words like "cuz" :-( As the "elder-generation" (like me) are quite allergic to those words ;-)
Run Windows Upate Utility to make sure Windows is up to date - Also Make sure video drivers are updated.
First option is to Verify game Cache.
Next if that didn't help.
Did you try any of these ---- Delete the hidden Rome2 %AppData% Folder below. - Then verify Game Cache.
It's a hidden folder.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-vista/
C:\Users\Jerry\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2
Another way to find the %AppData% folder is to click on the Windows Desktop Start Icon - In the Search Box type - %AppData% - Click Enter - The Roaming Folder should Appear - Click on it - you will now see The Creative Assembly Folder - click on it - find the Rome 2 Folder and Delete it - verify the Games Cache and reboot - then you can uninstall and re-install for a clean install. If this doesn't work something else is going on.
If you have used Mods in the past did you uninstall them ? If so check the Data folder to see if any remain and have to be manually deleted - Or better yet just delete in Data folder and then verify the games Cache.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome2\data
Make sure after any of the above actions you verify game Cache and reboot.
If none of the above steps don't work the only other option would be to a complete uninstall/reinstall --
Just make sure you delete the Rome2 %AppData% folder after you uninstall the game as it stilll may cause a crash. Delete the \Rome2
folder -
C:\Users\Jerry\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2
then verify games Cache and reboot.

I haven't tried this but it worked for a few players.
For those of you having issues with installs on Windows 10, where you run the launcher, hit 'play' and steam doesn't do anything, I've just managed to get it working after a lot of pain and struggle.
The key to fixing mine was the followng...
Step 1. Go to your Rome2 Directory
e.g: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome2
Step 2. Right click on the awesomium_process.exe and go to its properties.
Step 3. Under the compatability tab...
- Set compatability mode to Windows 8
- Ensure the 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' checkbox is ticked
- Select 'Run this program as administrator'
- Hit Apply.
Step 5. Apply the same changes to the Rome2.exe file.
My game now loads correctly after I hit play on the launcher. I've seen similiar solutions posted but I personally haven't seen anyone suggest editing the compatibility settings on the awesomium_process file. Not certain its going to be everyone's fix but it worked for me so I thought I'd post here.

do you have any 3rd party software running ? One guy had a video capture program running and when he shut it off Rome 2 worked fine. I believe it was called FRAPS ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanx for your advise. Step by step manual gave me a clue on how to fix the problem. Running the game as an admin failed, but an error appeared saying than MSVCP100.dll library was missing. Reinstalling the C++ Visual package from the Steam folder itself helped to fix the problem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Reboot your computer
2. Open the folder C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome2
3. Delete the following files
awesomium text
awesomium.dll
awesomium_process
Rome2.dll
Rome2.exe
4. Verify game cache and make sure your antivirus and windows firewall is disabled while doing so. Launch the game once it's finished downloading the files.

How i got Rome 2 to Launch.

Maybe this will help somebody. ??

Turn off Steams game overlay and the AMD Gaming Evolved "In Game Overlay if a AMD card is installed.
AMD Cards -
Known Issues
◾A few game titles may fail to launch or crash if the Gaming Evolved overlay is enabled. A temporary workaround is to disable the AMD Gaming Evolved "In Game Overlay"

Find the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Attila\redist folder Location that he listed above - click on any file that ends in .exe in the redist folder to install. Open the DirextX folder in the redist folder and click on the DXSETUP.exe file to install DirectX . Then I would verify the games cache to make sure all files are there and O.K.
Here is the .exe install files in my \redist Folder -
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-80-sp1.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-90.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\vcredist_x86-100-sp1.exe"
DierctX Folder -
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\redist\directx\DXSETUP.exe"

If Rome 2 doesnt start try this
It seems that a lot of people have a problem that Rome 2 won't start. There is a sticky with a list that contains a lot of useful tips that can help. But if nothing there will fix the problem try this:
A friend of mine had the same problem that her game didnt start. She tried everything in this list and nothing helped, but we found another solution.
It seems that the Launcher is causing the problems. Just open your Rome2 folder in Steamapps. Open the folder "launcher" and rename the launcher.exe to something different like launcherOriginal.exe. Then get the Rome2.exe, put it in the folder launcher an rename it to "launcher.exe". The Game will now start without the launcher causing the problem. :)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\launcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was able to fix it by running the game as administrator and then selecting trouble shoot when it didnt launch. It found a file and now my game works. Once again thank you to those who helped me.

Failed to start game (app already running) Error Message - Try Logging Out and Back into Steam.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
End of Turn Crash -
first verify games cache - If you have Mods it could be them causing a issue. delete them. - If not try this - Load a Previous Save or ---->
If it happens at the same point in the game everytime ? You can try this - change your strategy and make some different moves and change whatever you can that you did before. Save the game at that point and then close the game. verify games cache again. Restart game with your last save and see if you can continue without a crash. If not your saved game may be corrupted ?

For the people only seeing 3GB available of their 4GB VRAM in game
Go to...
Computer/Local Disc (C:)/Users/your user name/AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/Attila/scripts/preferences.script
Open with Notepad & scroll down to about the 10th line of stuff & be looking for where it says
gfx_video_memory 0;
Now change the zero to -2000
It should look like this
gfx_video_memory -2000;
Now save the file with the change & boot up Attila. Go to your custom graphics & your full 4GB should be showing available now.

Failed to Initialize Steam! Are you running Steam? Error Message -
Jul 1 @ 11:29am
UPDATE: I just closed steam, then went into the task manager and closed steam there again. Then when I started steam I ran it as an administrator and started the game from within steam and it is now functioning fine. I'm not sure if this will be a perminant fix or if it will work for everyone but I figured I should share none the less.

Start with this list but there may be others. Concerning antivirus, consider adding Vipre and BullGuard to this list for that section on AV programs.

Patch 17 Troubleshooting.
If you are having trouble launching Rome 2 with Patch 17 please try these steps to see if the help resolve the issue at all (these are troubleshooting steps suggested from the forums, They may not work for everyone).
1) Remove all Mods that you currently have installed, to check that they are fully removed please check the Modified.log (guide for this Here [support.sega.co.uk]), Please also unsubscribe from the mods via steam. (if using A Mod Manager please revert to Vanilla)
2) Verify your game Cache through steam (find out how to Here )
3) If you own Total War Attila, Boot the Launcher, and then click on Rome 2 and load the game
4) Try pressing Continue Campaign rather than Launch
5) Delete the Rome 2 folder inside the AppData file and then launch the game - make sure to back up your saves before doing this. ( \%AppData%\The Creative Assembly\Rome2 )
6) Re-install your Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (you can access these by going into your control panel / Programs & Features menu)
7) Take a look at these Launcher issue steps: Here [support.sega.co.uk] and Here [forums.totalwar.com]
8) If you are still having issues please create a post on the Total War Support forums – We will need a copy of your dxdiag to be able to assist you further.
9) Revert to Patch 16 via the Beta tab and see if that allows you to launch the game.
If you have applied the Patch and the changed haven’t applied to your game, please try loading a new campaign to see if it has worked there.
If the changes have not been applied, please provide the build number from the front end.

Ah, thanks! :-)
Allmost all of these fixes are meant to fix the entire game not one save file.
Thanks annyways for your help i will see if they work.
