Battle maps?
So, this game is otherwise very enjoyable. Even if the charm eventually wears off, I will always fondly remember my first Rise of the Republic campaign playthrough as one of the most organically dramatic campaigns I've ever played in any strategy game. Marcus Camillus and Legio I being trapped in the mountain fortresses of Samnium is quite possibly my favorite gamer anecdote to tell.

That being said, there is one thing that is consistently bothering me, and it's the battle maps for cities. Actually, the maps themselves are fantastic and refreshing after coming out of three years of the original R:TW; but because of the rules of the game, the application of those battle maps leaves something to be desired.

For example: the minor city of Jerusalem. Being a minor city, it cannot have walls. But the walls of Jerusalem were a major and very significant historical fortification. The Temple of Solomon was also a grand and important fixture, which the in-game city unfortunately cannot contain.

Are there any good mods that add a bit more uniqueness to the battle maps? I haven't really found any myself, but the Internet is a big place, and it's dangerous to go alone.

You could try to get a mod that allows you to build walls in minor settlements, if that's what you're asking about.

Here's a link to a mod that does that:

Other than that, the battlemaps are few in selection, so repetivity is to be expected.

Thanks, this could be an interesting addition to my next campaign! However, it isn't the absence of walls specifically which is bothering me, but the absence of important distinguishing features. Something to populate the historical world of the game with representations of actual history, rather than just a general appearance of history.
