Rome Total War 2 MAC
Is anyone else having problems loading the game on Mac. My mac is fully updated and has ran this game before about a year ago. However now when using MacOS Big Sur the game won't load properly, only the sound plays.

Yes, unfortunately SEGA/CA has no plans to update Rome II and Attila to 64-bit (Big Sur).

Other TW games have been tested and function in macOS 11 Big Sur without issue:

A Total War Saga: TROY
Total War: THREE KINGDOMS
A Total War Saga: FALL OF THE SAMURAI
A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA
Total War: EMPIRE
Total War: MEDIEVAL II
Total War: NAPOLEON
Total War: SHOGUN 2

How come they've updated tw games that game out previously to Rome 2 but not update Rome 2? Or games before and after r2 run on the update but r2 doesnt?
I'm not affected by the change so havent' really read up on it

These two games were ported in-house by CA and not Feral Interactive (as all others TW titles). Not sure why they didn't give to Feral Interactive to do he port in the first place.

money and can´t have Feral outshine CA in support of the game CA released and made. That would be my guess...
Feral changes the 32bit engine to a 64bit engine...
CA changes the name of the game...

Guess who does good work for the customers?

you'll never know, SEGA might decide to do a port for the 64bit, after all Rome II was given an extended life support with two campaigns recently. Rome II and Attila to some extents, are still selling well

32bit on these modern computers?? Everyone complains about lag or fps with these old games and want it to be better... But 32bit can´t be any better then it is. Can´t bypass the limits of the engine.

All 32bit laggy and bad fps games are not worth the money they ask. CA should be ashamed asking so much for old tech...

And only reason Rome 2 had those extra DLC was for their new team that made Thrones after this with a 32bit engine again. Avoid 32bit, it can´t handle computers from 20 years ago so let alone a modern computer.

. . . old TW titles were ported to 64bit, so you'll never know, they might port Rome II and Attila as well - it just a matter of compiling than a game engine limitation.

will never happen, CA will not invest money in old games without getting money out of it... CA doesn´t have future vision and sees everything in the present. CA doesn´t even fix bugs in their games... Boats still sail on land sometimes, troops that can´t get of their boats,... i know these are still there. Is an uphill charge with cav still more powerfull then a downhill charge??
