Game won't work (but for mac)
Long story short I used to not be able to download ROME II after macOS Catalina, but with the new update to BigSur that block is gone. But I seem to be having the same issue I saw in another discussion (they were on windows) where I get stuck in the "Total War Rome II" black and gold background. I can hear the music and the scenes playing... but there's no picture. Has anyone figured out a way to solve this? I've tried verifying files, installing and uninstalling, and using "-force-glcore" as a launch option - nothing seems to be working. And yes I know PC gaming is infinitely better but this what I'm working with:/ Mac is only like a year old too. Nothing wrong with the computer

For clarification the error usedd to say "Your current macOS (Catalina) is unable to run 32-bit games. This game may not run." The statement is gone now so I'm assuming it's supposed to run? As it gives me the option to download np

Hello,
I have the exact same problem, did you figured out a solution?
TheOrangeBox Feb 1, 2021 @ 5:10pm
ROME II and ATTILA are currently not working on the latest update of macOS, Big Sur. This is due to Apple dropping support for 32-bit applications, which these games are built on. Big Sur only supports 64-bit applications.

If you are using an Intel CPU and wish to play Total War: Rome II & Attila, the only option is to use macOS Mojave or earlier.

Solution: Buy a real computer

CA used old tech to make these games and MAC is using decent tech that can´t use this old 32bit anymore.

solution : buy an old computer with 1 cpu core(+3 GHz) and a max of 4 Gb RAM windows computer.

SEGA should give the games to Feral Interactive to do a port for the 64bit as they did all the other Total Wars OSX port. Rome II and Attila are still selling well

sure but that is counting on Feral and CA to do it, buying a cheap windows pc is something you can do yourself besides CA is lazy and doesn´t care for it´s customers...

Shogun 2 was recently patched/ported to work as a 64bit and it was done by Feral.
Unfortunately Rome II and Attila was a CA port and Feral wasn't involved. Rome II also misses from the 2 latest campaigns and the desert culture pack.
Win10 is great though, I think these days having access to WinOS is a smart thing to do. The intel MacPro/iMac can be bought cheaply these days and are great machine to run Win10

I'm having the same issue as OP and would like to get it fixed. What is Patch 16 and where can I access it?

Whats the code for patch 16?
Mello Mar 11, 2021 @ 9:13pm
patch_16 is confirmed to be working. But is anyone else having a bug where there's no audio? Despite having all the audio settings cranked up...?
chiffon rouge Mar 22, 2021 @ 2:03pm
Yes. The screen works with Patch 16, sound does not (at least for me).
