DEI Elephants?
How do you use elephants?

Every time the AI use elephants they forward charge them ahead of their army, directly into my javelins, embarrassingly dying immediately.

Whenever I use them they also get torn to ribbons in literal seconds. If they fight anything for a second the moment I turn back they are already dead.

Im going to assume that they require lots of movement? Are they used like chariots?

Elephants in DEI are for scaring enemy troops and attacking sword-armed infantry. Spears and any sort of missile unit will trash them fast. Elephants have a pretty massive morale debuff iirc, so even if you can't find a suitable enemy unit to run them at, just have them hang out near a fight and the enemy will be upset just from seeing the things.

Elephants deal damage when they are moving, they don't need to charge. You can easily rack up 500-750 kills per elephant unit in battle. Also it heavily depends which elephants you are using.
