Razing and Sacking as a general strategy..
Some thoughts on advantages of sacking and razing - maybe this can be a general strategy that many of us forget to consider, as the default is to occupy and build.

First, it would seem that you would never raze 1st, you would first sack to get cash, then raze to wipe the land clean of em.

Some thoughts on Razing/Sacking advantages and strategies:

1. Clearly if you are fighting a major power and have little hope of holding a settlement, you wipe it out so as to not fall into enemy hands.
2. Of course you have none of the occupation/public order issues if there is no public to order. Your armies can march on and scorch more earth.
2. Play a defensive strategy, with fortified armies at pinch points, and have your main stack raze an opponents major economic centers. Instead of conquering his lands, make him slowly bleed out.
3. If you are already economically superior to your major opponents, and want a quick victory, raze settlements so they cant get em. With no lands to occupy, they will never catch up.
4. If you had a bad day where everyone hassled you, take it out on some settlements. Get some payback.

Any other thoughts would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!!

I keep telling myself Im gonna do just that when my Suebi get a firm grip on their land. To punish those who stood against us. When that time comes Im just so powerful why retreat? My next Suebi campaign is gonna feature a marauder army that goes to the far east and south leaving a trail of smoke and tears! In fact maybe I devote one family line to do just that and make it a generational thing :D

Does this ever happen in Rome 2? In Warhammer sometimes the AI sends in multiple doom stacks and you can probably not win the defence. But I have never seen anything like that in Rome 2. AI seems quite passive.
