Doesn't start on windows 10

Hi guys, i try to start rome 2 but nothing happens. At first steam try to instal directx, then when i want to play he simply doesn't start. I've tried everything, repairing and reinstalling c++, but nothing. Warhammer works, so I don't know which is the problem

1) "You have to go to the directory of another TW game (I used Warhammer 2) which works for you, copy all files in the launcher folder, delete all files in the Rome 2 launcher folder, paste the copied files and your good to go.

This way you basically use the Warhammer 2 launcher for your game, since the Rome 2/Attila doesn't seem to work and you can still disable mods, etc."

2) "What I found to work was copying the rome2.exe file to the launcher folder and renaming it launcher.exe. I went back in steam and it started right up.


Rome2.exe is found in programs-steam-steamapps-common-Total War Rome II."

Ran rome2 as administrator and nothing.

Thanks but i've tried most of all the solutions you posted. I'll keep on serching... but i think is something about directx or c++ cause when i try to install it manually from the folder it give me an error, maybe cause i have the last version. So is something about windows 10 compatibility, but i can't figure how to fix it. No one of these solution seems to work, neither if i google it.

Try verfe your game files in properties turn computer off and turn back on.Try loading game again.Its not CA problem players who updated to W10 had same problems Window should be fixing the problen.

Hi guys, thank for your advice, but i REALLY try everything i found on google, steam and sega. Updating directx, c++, nvidia... Nothing! I re installed, change compatibility, copy rome.exe to launcher and all that stuff. Don't really what to do, i feel like stolen 30€ for the rise of republic expansion... How is possible after so many years there're still this kind of problems?

Intel core i-7 8550u
8 gb ram
windows 10 64 bit, x64
Nvidia geforce MX130

Please, if someone knows a different solution than all the mainstream i found on internet, wrote to me.

use the redist folder for rome II to update direct x

if it's default (c) will be here

and run DXsetup

i upgrade every single driver from the lenovo website... also the automatic driver upgrade. Then i re check the game and then try to install the DXsetup.
The last ones says there an error and check on Dxerror.log and Directx.log.

The second part is a log of things it didn't replace as you had the same version.

The first part might well be the problem, try running through these steps.

press windows key + s
type cmd
right click on command prompt, and open as administrator

type sfc /scannow

When that's done, try running DXsetup again.

Also install, run & scan with both of these programs.

Who the hell uses Win 10 anyways? I downgraded to win 7 which has 7% better performance for games. Win 10 is cancer. Gamers run win 7 as far as i'm concerned.

First of all thanks for your advice

i made the sfc /scannow stuff, and he found some error but he coudn't fix it.. so i follow what the link you send to me says:
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them (not a good thing) If you get this message run DISM as described below [...]
Use DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth to scan the image for component store corruption, perform repair operations automatically, and records that corruption to the log file. "

I've made i, then i sfc /scannow again twice, cause they say like that all the file should be fixed. In fact, the 3 time there were no problem Windows did not find any integrity violations.

About ccleaner and malwarbytes i already have it and i use the registrery cleaner and search for malware. Alfert all, i try finally to instal the Dxsetup, but unfortunally i gave me error again.

How did you downgrade? And did you lost all your personal files?

You could try locating C:\WINDOWS\system32\xactengine2_0.dll and deleting it, then running the DXsetup again, but then you may hit a chain of others. There may be other ways round it too, but it sounds like there is something going on with you computer that may be malicious. Seems the file checker fixed a few things, but you could be at this for a while.

I think a clean install would be your best option.

windows key + s
type "health", click "device performance & health"
at the bottom of the window is "fresh start", click info
follow the instructions, there should be an option to keep your personal files, but you will need to reinstall your programs.

Weird works fine for me on windows 10, that sucks man. Hopefully you figure it out.
