Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Statistiche:
Cult buildings, how to get them?
By browsing the available buildings on the Rome 2 Royal Military Academy website, I saw that there are cult building available, for Christian church, Mithras, and Manicheans.

How do I develop a city so that I get the option of building these?

You need to be playing the Empire Divided campaign, as those are buildings specific to that campaign and those factions. Not sure why Honga lists them for the factions in other campaigns.

So basically unless you're playing Empire Divided you can't get them.

Hi Welsh Dragon.

Thank you so much for answering my initial question. You are a very valuable member of the Total War community.

I have follow up questions:

1. Are Cult buildings available at the 1st turn of the Empire Divided campaign, or like the Circus Maximus, they have to be earned by building other buildings first?

2. Secondly, are Cult buildings available in every settlement, or only provincial capitals?

Hi William,

Thank you. I'm glad I can help.

1. Cult buildings are available from the start of Empire Divided for all factions, though you might need to get certain techs to unlock the higher tier versions (I haven't played ED for a couple of months so can't quite remember.) You'll often even find some have been built prior to the campaign start with the larger factions like (Aurelian) Rome.

They can be useful, but they're also a bit of a double edged sword. On the one hand they offer cheap sanitation and other bonuses, and don't cost anything to build or upgrade. But on the other they also usually have different drawbacks depending on the type, in the form of penalties to things like certain forms of income, unit costs or public order, and also because they spread their own forms of culture which can in turn have a knock on effect on things like public order. Plus it actually costs money to demolish them.

2. Cults can be built in any settlement (one per type per settlement, like most other buildings.)

Figuring out when and where to use cults is one of the campaign specific challenges Empire Divided has. It can be a little tricky, but you'll get the hang of it. Best bet is trial and error. Don't be afraid to build some, but don't be afraid to tear them down if they don't fit your plans either.

Hope that helps.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.
