the new soundtracks since Empire feels more like a movie soundtrack. I enjoy how Jeffs music slowley builds up to something unlike the newer ones imo. Only one that has stuck out to me is a track from Atillia AoC battle as playing as the Lombards.

R1 is fun, arcade-ish and cartoonish, the more extravagant music suits it better. That's what I love about it, it just bring back fun memories.
R2 on the other hand have this imagery of something more serious, darker form of empire building and the choice of music is really good for such a scenario. And this is also why I love R2's track, it makes me feel like a ruler deciding on policies and deployments that can change the fate of the entire world and then I finally decide that the only way to found out about the outcome is to do it.
I'm not saying certain tracks from each game is suitable for certain scenarios across the games, but overall, I prefer their tracks to stick to their own game.
Let R1 be R1 and R2 be R2, they are not each other and neither should we expect them to be each other.
Also the R1 soundtrack mod is just really bad in R2, like certain tracks just randomly plays during battle, unlike in R1, where the marching stage has it's own theme, so on and so forth. The mod however just plays a track randomly and it really spoils it for me.
