rome 2/black screen with cursor and sound
Hi there guys!Long story short, just bought a medion erazer, i5,8 gb ram, gtx 1050 4 gb,windows 10, and got rome 2 on sunday hoping to have some fun,but after installing it,the game runs with a black screen so i can't do anything.Contacted sega support, updated windows, gtx driver, verified files for damage and still facing the same issue.Apparently this is a common problem but hopefully someone has an idea. Thanks!

DO you get anything? SPlash screen? Menu? Anyway of seeing if the game recognises your card?

DO other games work and recogniose your card?

Go into Nvidia settings and force Rome 2 to run with the graphics card over ride settings. DO this by going into Nvidia settings/Manage 3d settings/Program settings (tab). Wait for programs to populate. select the Program 'Total War:Rome II'. Go through the features and settings applying what you want and then click 'add'. This will over ride the games settings with your hardware settings.
See if that works.

If not
If your CPU has integrated graphics. DIsable your GPU and see if the game boots up with just the cpu. WOnt really solve your issue as the game will run like ♥♥♥♥ with integarted, but it will isolate the issue and show that it is to do with your gpu card and isnt a game file issue or something else.

If it is a gpu issue, then remove all drivers using the Nvidia removal tool and re install. Sometimes a dodgy file is the issue.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your replies! So, when i first installed the game,it started and i was able to play a bit of the prologue and after that i closed the game because the laptop was realy hot during the battle. On a later attemp to play it, as i said above,it started with sound, and the cursor was moving, but the screen was still black.Tried your suggestion but it didn't work!!'m able to play EU4 without a problem for example. Here's what's on my laptop:

Hey there, im having the exact same problem. Weird enough: I can play Warhammer 2 with no problem at all. But when it comes to Rome II and Attila i have this issue.
Weird it's an understatement! It's a f..king disgrace!

I hate that devs dont even bother to answer neither here or on the TW forums

Devs dont check the forums. Some employees do, but only for censor reasons. CHances of getting a reply staright form a dev on a AAA game is close to nil.
