One party government?
So I hate having to please political parties all the time, is there any way to just have a single party? I made a civil war, won it, and was a single party for a bit, but then all of a sudden I see that a new party has formed. And it even took MY generals, MY gravitis, MY land. Any suggestions?

No, unfortunately that's just how it works, it has a chance of automatically spawning a new party each turn if there aren't enough. In my recent campaign, I had the same and provoked civil war 3 times to get rid of them, but they just keep coming back.

No matter how benevolent or brutal a regime... No matter how powerful a government... No matter how well meaning or tyranical a leader... There will always be opposition.

Even in single-party states they have opposition. It may be restricted, isolated, regulated into ineffectiveness or brutally suppressed, but it's still there.

You can try to appease them, or engage with them, or get them to join you, or crush them like a bug, it doesn't matter. Sooner or later someone will stand against you, because it's basic human nature. We are not a hive mind or a race of clones, we have different ideas, different beliefs, different likes and dislikes, different ways of doing things.

So it is in life. And so it is in this game.

As for what you can do.

Engage in the political game. Look at the different parties and what they want, and see if you can modify your strategies to gain and keep their support. Or crush them if they prove too problematic. See to it that leaders with unfortunate Party Traits suffer unfortunate "accidents," and are replaced with more "suitable" candidates.

Balance out your promotions and how you use your generals, so other parties get some of the credit too, and it's not such a blow if your best general decides he thinks he can do better than you!

Balance out the way you develop your empire, so if one part of it breaks off you don't suddenly find your coffers empty, you people hungry and your armies without the means to recruit new troops because you focused that key infrastructure in just a few provinces.

Finally, accept that this is part of the reality (and challenge) of leading a faction in such a volatile piece of history. Rome fought over 50 Civil Wars and Revolts just in the period covered by the Grand Campaign alone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Roman_civil_wars_and_revolts

Same here. I hate this mechanic. I just stopped playing Rome 2 because of it.

You need to play Crusader kings 2 and learn statecraft.

There are mods on the workshop that give all factions +1000 loyalty or something like that. No need to worry about those civil wars.

As well as learning to use political strategies, or using a mod to remove the issue, there's another option, explained here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?795273-Managing-Rival-Parties-or-Secessions-for-Fun-and-Profit&p=15765217&viewfull=1#post15765217

I play on legendary which makes it harder, i think the only way to resolve these issues is to force civil wars (or assassinate leaders) until you get reasonable traits. (subversive, expansionalist, militarist, traditionalist) are my favourites. Use loyalty edicts, the other edicts are mostly worthless late-game and convert to an Empire when you can. That should resolve everything, you may have to occasionally "secure loyalty" but late-game i don't even look at the politics tab

The other way to do it is use the other parties generals, promote them, get them wives, promote their wives, hire new politicians for their party, promote them, etc. You can very easily secure loyalty that way, but it make them gain a lot of influence, which has drawbacks so i prefer the first option.

I have some good fellow men and I have them just constantly assassinate the rival party leader =]] Until I feel the need to stop because my treasury is almost empty.

(Sorry if I revived the post or smth :) )
