Macedon or Seleucid campaign?
Really torn between which one to start first, I like the looks and units types of both factions (hoplites and pikes) plus they have the game's best archers (syrian heavy for Seleucid and mercenary cretan for Macedon)

I'll probably do both eventually but which one do you think is better?

They're both great, but The Black Death (Macedon) probably just wins.

Read about Alexander's battles before you start - my Macedon campaign where I decided to fight battles like Alexander gave me some of my best memories of this game.

I mostly played vanilla, bar some graphics mods (which I think have stopped working now so I won't recommend them).

I highly recommend this mod:
Alexander's Campaign Hellenic Edition

Eversince i started watching all the documentaries about Alexander the Great on the Great Courses Plus, i started replaying the old Alexander: Total war, expansion of Rome 1, but i felt it missed alot cities to fight at he went to along his campaign.

i wanted to play in his Footsteps of Alexander the Great in Rome 2, but while playing Macedon, its a little bit weird to Conquer battle after battle against the Selucids, when i really wanted to fight Persians,

This mod does that, Total Conversion mod to Alexander's the Great Era. with a custom Persain Empire.. Really Check this out !!!

@RawFire, i recommend u to try this mod first, and After u finished with them u decide wich of his Diodochi ( Alexander's the Great Generals whom took over after his death ) should be the Succesor of His Empire. Should it be "Antipater" of Macedon, or perhaps Seleucus I Nicator whom started the Seleucids, or should it be Ptolemy I Soter whom became ruler of Egypt who's dynasty remained for over 300 years.

You decide !!!

Play whatever faction more historically fascinates you and you know more about. I’m playing Macedon rn with the DEI mods which I recommend on normal. Hard and really hard are well, hard haha. It was a series of Pyrrhic victories that eventually saw me wither away by turn 7 or so haha. But normal is good. I went into it thinking I’d simulate Alexander’s campaign but I’m more so simulating Philip V in his campaign to reconquer parts of Greece in the second Macedonian war and now Rome is taking steps towards me in Greece now too. It’s really cool. But with the mod I’m honestly having a hard enough time struggling with my Greek rivals at the moment. It feels very authentic. If it’s not your first rodeo in Rome II I highly recommend it. Any faction is cool to replay on it.

He can get units as mercenaries so I don’t think that’s a reason to choose a faction
