2. Stick to the roads where possible. Though not always the case, travelling along roads can reduce or even eliminate desert attrition.
3. Recruit specialised troops. Some units are immune to Desert Attrition, and so it can be advantageous to build specialised armies to deal with certain conditions. What units you have available will depend on the faction (someone like Egypt most of their roster is immune to Desert Attrition... Iceni, not so much.
4. Accept that you're marching an army through some of the harshest, most dangerous conditions known to man, and that casualties are inevitable.
And most of all.
5. Adapt. Which is what humanity has always done throughout history. Facing a challenge and finding a way around it is, in my view, a lot more enjoyable than just downloading a mod to eliminate that feature.
