But the purpose isn't to spice up the missions but to have them as a guide of how the real romans expanded, in case you want to follow the same exact path. No reason to have missions like "subjugate carthage" etc because it's not guaranteed that in-game carthage will even exist at turn x or will occupy the historical territory.

Scipio, You are very detail oriented and I agree with DonaldClarke1. Thanks for your efforts, and I will through subject headers and compare to Wikipedia, but don't expect any major findings, as you are very thorough. Thanks for all your great contributions to the community. Highest regards, Harper

Scipio, Glad to help and will continue comments today / tommorrow. R, Harper

Comments in progress:
Chapter 1:
(1) Objective: Control central and southern Italia.
Etruscan Wars: There were multiple wars between Rome and Etruria with 1st in the 8th centry BC, and last two in 310 and 283 BC. So your 1st time range of 298 to 275 BC covers the last war.

Samnite Wars: The 3rd Samnite War was 298 to 290 BC, within your time range.

Pyrrhic War: 280 to 275 BC, within your time range.

Comments: In southern Itallia and Sicily, but not Epirus. Carthage offers Rome assistance in Sicily.

(2) Objective: Control Sicily and Africa
1st Punic War: 264 to 241 BC, matches your time range.

Comment: Rome gains majority of Sicily, but is repelled in Africa.

(3) Objective: Control Libya, Sardinia, and Corsica
Mercenary War: 240 to 238 BC, matches your time range.

Comment: What starts out as mercenary rebellions against Carthage in Libya and Sardinia, ends with Carthage crushing the rebellions; initially with Roman support but later Rome annexes Corsica and Sardinia, when Carthage is in a weakened state at end of the rebellions.

(4) Objective: Control Epidamnos and Apollonia, et al cities.
1st Illyrian Wars: 229 to 228 BC, matches your time range.

Comment: Rome sets up Demetrius of Pharos as client king as rival to Queen Teuta of Ardiaei.

Chapter 2: Control Illyria, Sicily

(1) Siege of Syracuse (214-212 BC): Control Magna Graecia.

Comments: (a) With conquest of Syracuse (former ally during 1st Punic War), Rome controls entire island of Sicily. (b) There are several unique siege tools that Rome deployed: "...These included the sambuca, a floating siege tower with grappling hooks, as well as ship-mounted scaling ladders that were lowered with pulleys onto the city walls...." (c) Carthage attempted to provide relief to Syracuse (former enemy) during the Roman siege.

(2) Second Punic War (218-201 BC): Control Tarraco, Αrse (Saguntum), Qart Hadasht (Carthago Nova), Gadira.

Comments: (a) Saguntum (Roman Iberian ally) falls to Carthage in 219 BC, but war not officially declared by Rome until 218 BC. (b) Carthage invades northern Italy via trek across Gaul and Alpes), with assistance from Gallic allies (Boii and Insubres). (c) After several early Carthaginian victories in Itally, part of Rome's Italian allies defect to support Carthage. Syracuse and Macedon also declare support for Carthage. (d) In latter stages of war, Rome defeated Carthage in Spain and Italy. (e) Rome defeats Carthage in Africa, forcing Carthage to become client state of ROme. (f) Rome defeats Macedon during 1st Macedonian War (eastern Mediterannean and Ionian Seas).

(3) Gallic Wars (225-192 BC): Control Cisalpina.

Comments: There were several wars between Rome and the Cisalpine Gauls, with last beginning after Rome drove Carthage from Italy in 202 BC and ended in 192 BC.

(4) First Celtiberian War (181-179 BC): Control Baetica.

Comments: (a) With defeat of Carthage in Hispania, Rome took over Carthaginian regions of Hispania Citerior and Hispania Ulterior; which ultimately led to conflict between Rome and neighbouring Celtiberian tribes. (b) The Celtiberians were a confederation of tribes: the Pellendones, the Arevaci, the Lusones, the Titti and the Belli.

Harper, there is no reason to comment on every mission, I already have read the history. I really appreciate what you are doing, but I hate to see you being put through that for helping me. If you just pointed out any errors of mine that would be enough man, really!
