How to arrange a marriage?
I'm playing as Armenia in the grand campaign and i have no family at all and I want a wife, so how the hell do I arrange a marriage? I've tried diplomacy but there is no option, so do all the factions around me not have daughters?!?

Marriage through diplomacy is one way, it is only possible when both you and the other faction have an adult and unmarried son/daughter. The more common/easy way is through the family tree. Press on the faction icon in the middle of your screen below, press on characters in the menu and then click on the character you wish to marry. You see a list of 'intrigues' with different icons. Find the first of the last red row 'Seek spouse'. Press this one (for a little of coin) and you character is married. After some time they will probably make children and when they reach adulthood you can let them marry again. This video of Total War Academy can also help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2uAfET_YV0.

There's basically three kinds of marriage in this game.

Diplomatic Marriage: This is between two unmarried adult faction leaders of opposite genders. If you and the faction you are talking to have eligible faction leaders, it will appear on the diplomatic screen when engaged in diplomacy. Of course there's no guarantee the other faction leader will say yes.

Political Marriage: This is between an unmarried member of your party, and an unmarried member of another party. Again they have to be adluts of opposite genders. To do this, select the character from your party you wish to get married, and click on the Political Marriage Intrigue in the box in the bottom right corner. It will then highlight all eligible members of other parties. Select the one you wish to marry.

Seek Spouse: This is when a character seeks out a spouse, the game generates a new character to fill that role. Select the character you wish to seek out a spouse and click on the Seek Spouse intrigue. The new wife/husband will be spawned, and will be a member of the same party as the person you selected.

Note that both Political Marriage and Seek Spouse have additional costs/requirements, so mouse over the button for details.

Hope that helps.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

Thanks Welsh Dragon. I'd assumed the political marriage option didn't enable the player to choose a named character as the spouse. I'm glad to hear we get that choice. I'll try it some time. :steamhappy:

Good to see another old timer.

To answer your questions, not since launch, but I've been here quite a while. I've lurked in various Total War forums over the years, but probably became active on this one end of 2014-beginning of 2015. Like other people I got tired of seeing people asking for help or advice with the game and getting responses like "uninstall this expletive and your problem is solved" or worse, so decided to do something about it.

How much I'm on here really depends on how much I'm playing Rome 2, but as its one of my go to games I play it fairly regularly. That said I'm trying to branch out a bit. Recently been playing quite a bit of Battletech, and I picked up a game I've had my eye on for quite a while, Northgard, in the Steam Summer Sale which is a nice change of pace. :spacemonster:

Hope you and everyone have a good weekend.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.
Yeah, that`s what I was trying to do, when I was here regularly.
But now my knowledge seems a bit outdated...
Happy WE to you, too.
