All the Best,
Welsh Dragon.
Exchange of regions would be very usful since Massillia currently only has 2 regions after getting torn apart by the Gallia Federation (who is now being torn apart by me) and those two regions aren't even neighbors of neighbors to eachother and I hold at least 1 region in both providences. At this point in time they are stI'll useful alive due to their military being big enough to distract a couple other factions. If only I could trade them one region for another to complete a providence for me, and for them which even help them further by not being split by 2 hostile factions and myself.
Fair enough. I just feel it makes life too easy and don't feel it fits the setting/game. But as you said, there is some historical precedent.
All the Best,
Welsh Dragon.
Trade ya this settlement for a few grand. (Repeat several times)
Trade ya these settlements for peace (if they declared war on you and then turn right back around and launch war again because who cares what the rest of the world thinks of you they will all be crushed under the Boot heel of your nations might)
Trade ya this settlement for that one (but the one you gave them was about to be taken by someone else who you then took it from thus gaining a territory and Perhapse a little favor with the people you traded with)
This is probably why there aren't any other games with this feature, as it really doesn't make sense historically nor strategically in some cases
France sold the land because they can't use them, after they lost Haiti, their main naval port, to the rebellion. And those are beside the point that it happened 2000 years from beginning of the game.
Plus I think giving cities like this were not done historically until Enlightenment Age. Rome 1 and Medieval 2 shouldn't even haven them. And the AI weren't smart enough to use the feature properly and get abused by players when they were implemented.
Back up the tongues of dignitaries with the swords of soldiers.
Always make sure you can back up any threats made. (That would be a nice feature, threaten or insult other factions. Sucks that if you trespass you get a slight punishment but if they trespass you nothing happens. Or if you propose a ♥♥♥♥ deal and get called out they hate you a little more but if they do it nothing hapens. And it would be nice if you could tell the little ♥♥♥♥♥ that keep asking for money that if they ask once more Roman Legions will march to the Capitol and their nation will be no more)
