Yeah, the Metacritic for Empire Divided is at 67/100 currently, but all 4 (yes, only 4) reviews are no-name's... nothing from PC Gamer, IGN, RPS.

R2 deservedly got a lot of hate at release (though PC Gamer inexplicably gave it something like an 80/100 at release, which has soured me on them). But it's reasonably better than it was, and panning a DLC because of the base game isn't entirely fair.

R2 is still a fundamentally flawed game in some ways... but it's currently a reasonable, if not inspired, game. Nothing, not even this DLC, should be expected to fix shoddy AI in sieges.

This doesn't mean I think ED will be good... but I would prefer a review to stick to what is reasonable to expect from a $15 DLC. The reviews pointing out that the DLC doesn't fix the AI are fine -- I mean, really, good to point out -- but lowering the score for that reason is pretty stupid, given the price of the DLC. This was never going to be War of the Chosen, you know, that DLC for X-Com 2 that really improves the game over-all... but costs $40.
Perhaps you should read the original Rome 2 review then

This might give you some context. Peter who wrote the review is a bit of Total War pro so he knows what he's talking about.

As for being a "no-name", PCI has been around for a long time (previously IncGamers) with more than 800 game reviews under our belts. Hardly a no-name from folk who have worked in game editorial for two decades.
"But no matter how many overhauls take place, it’s a game that can’t entirely rid itself of that 2013 launch baggage." - Peter Parrish

I mean no offence, but i really hope that they are not being bias here, since what happened in 2013, happened in 2013. I feel like the game has made a lot of improvments, and this DLC is generally pretty good, though i still need to explore more of it before i can give it a rating.

Perhaps PCinvasion wants to hit the news ASAP? I dont know.
It's a far better review than the RPS garbage, although it's odd that the reviewer seems to acknowledge so many of the positive points and then arrives at a 6/10, there doesn't seem to be much of a connection between the two beyond the known issues with Rome II in the past.

Also, I am "hovering over public order" for a breakdown every turn from the main UI, so I'm not sure what's to miss there... perhaps it's because I go through everything each turn civ-style.

Not being a sheeple I've no trouble forming my own opinions about games.
